I’ve always been a fan of savory breakfasts, like the kind that is packed with sauteed vegetables and cheddar cheese. Well, this quiche is no exception! It has a fantastic flavor without being too heavy or greasy, so you can still go about your day feeling energized.

This is an excellent protein-packed breakfast, which keeps you satisfied until lunch. This also makes for a fantastic brunch recipe.

Quiches are a great way to make a delicious breakfast for the entire family. I love seeing these on a Holiday, and since they cook up quickly, they make for an excellent Thanksgiving or Christmas breakfast.

What Are Egg Whites?

Egg whites are whole eggs minus the yolk. You can use egg whites to make meringue, souffle, and other desserts. The protein in egg whites is also an excellent addition to your diet if you’re trying to build muscle or lose weight. Egg white protein has less fat than regular chicken breast, so it’s great for those who want an alternative that will taste good and be healthy!

What Are Quiches?

Quiches are savory tarts or pies usually made with eggs, milk, cheese, and vegetables. They can be vegetarian or contain meat. You could try thousands of combinations, but the key to making a great quiche is getting your ingredients well blended before baking them!

How To Make Air Fryer Egg White Quiche

Air Fryer Egg White Quiche

Remove refrigerated pie crust from the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before preparing quiche. Unroll pie crust dough and place your tart pan on top of the crust. Cut a circle (it doesn’t have to be perfect) about 1 inch outside the border of the tart pan.

Press the crust into the tart pan, tucking the edges down along the sides and cutting off any excess dough so that the crust is even with the top of the pan.

Place the tart pan into the air fryer’s basket and cook at 300°F for 5 minutes. Sprinkle grated cheese into the bottom of the cooked crust.

Whisk together egg whites and heavy cream until smooth and fluffy.  Carefully pour the egg mixture over the cheese in the crust. The egg mixture should reach the top edge of the crust. Do not overfill.  Top with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Place the prepared quiche back into the air fryer’s basket and cook at 300°F for another 10 minutes or until the egg is set in the center.

Allow to cool for 1-2 minutes, and then carefully pop the quiche from the tart pan. Use a spatula to remove the quiche from the bottom plate of the tart pan and serve immediately or set it on a cooling rack to cool.

Pro Tips:

  • Cheese is optional but adds some nice flavor and a little color. You can use a reduced-fat cheese or omit it altogether.
  • Egg whites that you can buy in a carton will work fine for this recipe. Refer to the chart on the carton for the amount that equates to two egg whites.
  • You may be able to fit two quiches into the air fryer at once. Test out the space before filing the tart pans. Cooking two at once did not affect the cooking time in my air fryer but adjusted accordingly.
  • I found the best results by pre-cooking the crust for about 5 minutes before adding the filling. Otherwise, the crust does not cook on the bottom when the egg filling is set.
  • Adjust the amount of heavy cream you add if you need more filling. You may not use all of the egg fillings either. You can fill to the top of the crust edge, but the amount of egg needed will vary slightly depending on how many other ingredients you’ve added to the quiche.
  • To reheat the quiche, place them back into the air fryer at 300° until warmed through.

Make it Crustless

This is an elementary Air Fryer KETO breakfast; prepare as directed if you omit the crust.

Spry your quiche/tart pan with cooking spray, and then air fry until the eggs are set, about 8 to 10 minutes.

Use a Store-Bought Crust

Today, I used a store-bought crust, but this recipe will work the same with a homemade crust.

If you use a homemade crust, make sure that you start with a cold crust, so place it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.

You can also prepare this recipe by using a frozen crust, thawing the crust, and then following the directions in the recipe, and it will work the same.

Can you make ahead or freeze quiche?

Quiche is a versatile dish that you can make ahead or freeze. You can even use ingredients from your freezer and pantry to make it. If you want to save time on Sunday morning, try making one of these recipes for quiche.

Prepare the quiche ahead of time for about 2 to 3 days. Store this quiche wrapped in saran wrap, then place it in the refrigerator. You can either reheat it in the air fryer or the microwave. Heat until warmed through.

To freeze a cooked quiche, let it cool to room temperature, wrap it in saran wrap a few times, and wrap it in foil. Place the wrapped quiche into a freezer bag. The quiche will last for about 2 to 3 months. You can either cook the quiche from frozen or thaw it overnight in the refrigerator.
