Easy Air Fryer Carrot Bacon Recipe Tips

  • Even Slices Matter: Use a mandolin or vegetable peeler to ensure carrot strips are uniform for consistent crisping.
  • Don’t Skip the Marinade: Let the carrots soak for at least 15 minutes to fully absorb the sweet, smoky flavor.
  • Air Fry in Batches: Avoid overcrowding the basket so each strip gets crispy instead of steaming.
  • Watch the Time: Air fry for 5–6 minutes total, flipping halfway, but adjust slightly depending on your air fryer and carrot thickness.
  • Extra Crisp Option: For crunchier carrot bacon, lightly spray with oil before the final minute in the air fryer.
  • Serve Immediately: Carrot bacon is best enjoyed fresh for maximum crispness, though it can be reheated gently.

Storing, Freezing and Reheating Instructions

  • Storing: Store leftover carrot bacon in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh and flavorful for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: Place cooled carrot bacon in a freezer-safe bag or container. Freeze for up to 1 month for later use.
  • Reheating: Reheat carrot bacon in the air fryer at 350°F for 2–3 minutes. This restores crispiness without overcooking the carrots.

How To Slice Carrots For Bacon

You’ll want to slice your carrots into thin strips using a regular vegetable peeler. It’s the perfect way to get carrots to perfectly crisp up, just like real bacon. If you do too thick, it will not crisp up the way I did and could be just bland or soggy, depending on what kind of flavor profile is desired for this dish! One of the best things about using a vegetable peeler is all of your slices of carrot bacon will cook up at the same time.

Can I prep the carrot strips ahead of time? Yes, slice and marinate the carrots up to a day in advance for maximum flavor and convenience.

Can I use regular bacon instead of carrot bacon? If you prefer traditional bacon, cooking times and methods will differ; carrot bacon offers a plant-based, healthier alternative.
