Ingredients Notes:

Carrots: You can use whole carrots and cut them into pieces or baby carrots. So, the next time you are at the grocery store, grab a bag of baby carrots (already washed and cut), so a great time saver!

Olive Oil: You can add any high-heat oil that you like. Some of my favorites are avocado oil, grapeseed oil, and coconut oil. All of the oils, high heat add a great caramelization to the carrots after they are cooked.

Seasoning: Add anything that goes well with carrots. I would suggest that you use thyme and even poultry seasoning.

Tips and FAQs:

  • Cut the carrots so they fit into your air fryer basket.
  • You can use the prewashed baby carrots, which they sell in bags at the grocery store. There is no need to cut them.
  • If you want honey-flavored carrots, add 2 tablespoons after the carrots are done roasting in the air fryer.
  • For best results, make sure that all of the carrots are similar in size, so they all cook up simultaneously.
  • Continue to cook, unit the carrots are caramelized. The timing will depend on your air fryer.

How to prep carrots?

To make these Air Fryer carrots, start by washing the carrots, then peel the carrots with a vegetable peeler. Depending on how big your air fryer is, you can either cut them or leave them whole.

Do you need to peel the carrots?

Do you need to peel the carrots? The answer is not always yes, but it can be if they are old or dirty. If they are fresh and firm, then no peeling is necessary. Many factors go into determining if a carrot needs peeling before being cooked. Carrots may have dirt on them, which should be washed off with cold water and scrubbed with a vegetable brush or peeled away with a paring knife if the outer layer has become dry or tough.

Can I add other vegetables?

Yes, but you will need to find vegetables that have the same cooking time as carrots. Any root vegetable will work. Some popular vegetables compliment roasted carrots: red potatoes, red onions, parsnips, butternut squash, turnips, zucchini, and bell peppers.

For best results, cut them into similar sizes so that they all cook up simultaneously.
