- Baby Carrots: I like using baby carrots for this recipe as they’re a touch sweeter than regular-sized carrots! Plus, they’re the perfect size for the air fryer. Alternatively, you can use full-size carrots if you slice them into smaller pieces.
- Olive Oil: Helps the carrots roast and brown evenly. You don’t need much, but I wouldn’t recommend skipping it.
- Honey: The key ingredient for your glaze! It caramelizes beautifully in the air fryer.
- Salt & Pepper: Both highlight the other ingredients and balance out the flavor overall.
How to Make Air Fryer Carrots with Honey
Air fryer glazed carrots come together easily and quickly! Refer to the step-by-step instructions below as you go along.
Step 1: Prep the carrots
Place the carrots, olive oil, honey, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and toss to coat evenly.
Step 2: Air fry
Add the carrots to your air fryer basket in a single layer. Set the temperature to 390 degrees F and air fry for 12-15 minutes. Shake the basket frequently during cooking so your carrots roast evenly.
Step 3: Check for doneness
When the carrots are fork-tender, transfer to a serving dish and season to taste or add an extra drizzle of honey if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Air Fryer Honey Carrots Variations
- Maple and Cinnamon: Substitute honey with maple syrup and add a pinch of cinnamon.
- Garlic and Herb: Mix in minced garlic and dried herbs like rosemary or thyme before air frying.
- Spicy Honey: Add a dash of cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the honey mixture.
- Balsamic Glazed: Drizzle balsamic vinegar along with the honey.
- Citrus Zest: Add orange or lemon zest to the honey mixture.
- Parmesan: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the carrots during the last few minutes of air frying.
- Ginger Honey: Incorporate a small amount of grated fresh ginger into the honey mixture.
- Brown Sugar: Mix brown sugar with the honey for a more profound, molasses-like sweetness.
- Spiced: Coat the carrots with a blend of bold spices like cumin, coriander, and paprika before roasting.
- Asian-Inspired: Combine honey with soy sauce and sesame oil and garnish with sesame seeds after cooking.
Air Fryer Glazed Carrots Pro Tips
- I like baby carrots for their size and sweetness. Remember, if you choose to use regular carrots, cut them into similarly sized pieces for even cooking.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: When you heat the air fryer before you add the carrots, they’ll start cooking as soon as they hit the basket. This will help them get nice and caramelized.
- Toss to Coat: Toss the carrots as thoroughly in the oil and honey mixture as you can. You want them to be evenly coated so they have a uniform glaze and flavor.
- Don’t Crowd the Basket: Arrange the carrots in a single layer with some space between each one for even cooking and caramelization.
- Halfway through the cooking process, give the basket a gentle shake. You could also use tongs to turn them! This helps ensure they brown on all sides.
- Adjust if Needed: I encourage you to play around with the amount of honey based on how sweet you want your carrots. Remember that their natural sugars will also contribute to the overall sweetness!
- Feel free to experiment with different seasonings like cinnamon, garlic powder, or herbs for a different flavor. You could also serve them with fresh herbs like parsley or dill for added color and flavor.
- Don’t Overcook: Keep an eye on honey roasted carrots in air fryer towards the end of cooking, as they can go from perfectly caramelized to overdone quickly.
- After cooking, garnishing with a drizzle of honey or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice can enhance the flavor.
Honey Roasted Carrots in Air Fryer FAQs
Yes, you can use whole carrots cut into uniform pieces. Ensure they are of similar size for even cooking. Depending on the thickness of the carrots, you may need a few additional minutes of cooking time.
No, baby carrots come already peeled. If you use whole carrots, peeling is optional. If you like a more rustic texture, scrub the carrots well and leave the skin on. For a smoother texture, peel them.
It typically takes about 15-20 minutes of cooking time at 370-400 degrees F, but the exact time can vary based on your air fryer model and the size of the carrot pieces.
Coating the carrots thoroughly with oil and honey helps lock in moisture. Avoid overcooking as well, as this can dry them out.
Yes, you can omit honey or substitute it with maple syrup for a different flavor.
Garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, cinnamon, and nutmeg all pair nicely with the sweet flavor of the carrots.
You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat the honey carrots in the air fryer or oven to maintain the texture.

Air Fryer Glazed Carrots
Description
Ingredients
- 3 cups baby carrots
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, add the carrots, olive oil, honey, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat.
- Then place them in your air fryer basket, set the temperature to 390 degrees F, and set the time for 12 to 20 minutes. Shake the basket frequently during the cooking process so all of the carrots get perfectly roasted!
- Plate, serve, and enjoy!
Equipment
- Cooking Spray
- Parchment Paper, optional
Notes
- Carrots: If you do not use baby carrots, you can easily use cut carrots. Make sure that the carrots are about the same size.
- Crowding; For best results leave plenty of room around the carrots, and place them into a single layer. This will allow for the hot air to freely circulate around the carrots, which will cause them to perfectly roast up!
- Flipping: Depending on the air fryer that you are using, you may need to flip the carrots, halfway during the cooking process. If you have an air fryer basket, shake your basket frequently during the cooking process.
- Timing: Since, every air fryer is slightly different, and you can use any air fryer in making these carrots, it is important that you watch the carrots s they roast up in the air fryer.

These are so good! I could ate the whole batch. My air fryer has different shelves and I cooked the meat also, so it took about 8 minutes longer. But both were great.

Yum!
Cindy
You said to shake the basket but I have a oven style (Instant Vortex Plus).
Should I put on tray and flip or would it be better to use the rotisserie basket?
Laurie
I would just put them on the tray and then use a pair of tongs and flip them halfway.
Charlotte
Do you use the Roasting or air Fryer button
