How To Make Instant Pot Rice Krispie Treats

Step One: Add the butter to the Instant Pot and select the “Sauté” function. Stir continuously as it melts for about a minute, being careful not to let it burn.

Step Two: Add the marshmallows to the melted butter and continue sautéing, stirring constantly, until the marshmallows are fully melted and smooth.

Step Three: Carefully remove the Instant Pot bowl using heat-resistant gloves and place it on a trivet or hot pad to protect your countertop.

Step Four: Stir in the Rice Krispie cereal until fully coated with the marshmallow mixture. Lightly spray a baking pan with non-stick cooking spray, then press the mixture evenly into the pan and smooth the top with a spoon. Allow to set before cutting into squares.

Easy Instant Pot Rice Krispie Treats Recipe Tips

  • Line your pan with parchment paper to make removing the treats from the pan easy and cutting them into perfect pieces.
  • You can also spray your pan with cooking spray, which is easily removed when they are done cooling.
  • Try to use fresh marshmallows so they are not all clumped together. They will give you better results.
  • You can use either mini or regular marshmallows for this recipe. I often switch the more enormous marshmallows out for colored marshmallows for a festive treat.
  • Use a greased spoon or spatula to smooth out the Rice Krispie treat in the pan so you get a nice, even layer.

Recipe Variations

There are many ways to change this classic recipe for a new twist or holiday celebration. Here are some of my favorites!

  • Candy: Add chocolate candies and mini M&M’s (including holiday ones) on top after you place the Rice Crispies into the baking pan to cool.
  • Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats: Change the regular version to the chocolate version. The recipe will remain the same.

Storing Instructions

  • Room Temperature: Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3–4 days.
  • Refrigerator: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
  • Freezer: Wrap individual squares tightly in plastic wrap or foil and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.

Description

Make gooey, buttery Rice Krispie Treats in the Instant Pot! Quick, easy, and perfectly chewy, these treats are a fun snack or dessert.

Ingredients 

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 10 1/2 ounces marshmallow
  • 6 cups rice Krispie cereal

Instructions

  • Place your 3 tablespoons butter into the Instant Pot Bowl, and then press the saute' button. Let it melt. Just keep on moving it around so it doesn't burn (it only takes a minute or so)
  • Then add the 10 1/2 ounces marshmallows, saute' until the marshmallows are completely melted, and the mixture is well blended, stirring constantly.
  • Then remove the entire pan from the Instant Pot. Please use Instant Pot gloves and place them on a hot pad to not burn your surface.
  • Mix in the 6 cups rice Krispie cereal mix well. So everything is well blended.  Meanwhile, spray your lasagna pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Spread your batter into the prepared pan and smooth with a spoon.
  • Let set and then cut into squares.
