How To Make Chili’s Big Mouth Bites

Mixing ground beef with onion, seasonings, egg, breadcrumbs, and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl to make tender burger patties.

Step One: Combine the ground beef, dried minced onion, salt, black pepper, egg, breadcrumbs, and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl. Mix until well combined, but avoid over-mixing to keep the patties tender.

Forming slider-sized burger patties from ground beef mixture, slightly larger than buns.

Step Two: Divide the mixture into small portions, each about the size of a golf ball. Flatten each portion into a patty slightly larger than your slider buns, as they will shrink while cooking.

Step Three: Preheat your air fryer to 360 degrees F (180°C) for 1-2 minutes.

Step Four: Place the patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer, set cook time for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through or until the patties reach your desired level of doneness. If you add a slice of cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to let it melt.

Chili’s Big Mouth Bites Copycat Recipe Tips

  • Don’t overfill the tortillas: Too much cheese or beef can make them spill while cooking.
  • Use cold ingredients: Cold beef mixture helps the bites hold their shape better.
  • Seal edges well: Press edges firmly to prevent filling from leaking.
  • Cook in batches: Avoid overcrowding the pan or oven for even crispiness.
  • Customize toppings: Add your favorite sauces, cheeses, or veggies for extra flavor.

Storing Instructions

  • Refrigerator: Store cooled bites in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best crispiness.
  • Freezer: Freeze uncooked bites on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to cook.

Easy Chili’s Big Mouth Bites Copycat Recipe Faqs

Can I make these bites ahead of time? Yes! You can prepare them up to a day in advance and refrigerate until ready to cook. For longer storage, freeze the uncooked bites and bake straight from frozen.

Can I use a different type of meat? Absolutely! Ground turkey, chicken, or even a plant-based meat substitute works. Keep in mind that cooking times may vary slightly.

Can I make these gluten-free? Yes, swap regular breadcrumbs for gluten-free breadcrumbs and use gluten-free tortillas to make the recipe safe for gluten-sensitive diets.

How do I keep the bites crispy after baking? Serve immediately or keep them warm in a low oven. Avoid covering tightly with foil, as that can trap moisture and soften them.

Can I customize the filling? Definitely! Add jalapeños, different cheeses, or even cooked bacon bits for extra flavor. The recipe is very versatile.

What’s the best way to reheat leftovers? Reheat in an oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness. Microwaving may make them a bit soggy.
