What Are Lamb Shanks?
If you’re a cook, you’ve probably heard the term “lamb shanks” before, but what do they are? Lamb shanks are the meaty hind leg of a lamb cut into one or two pieces. They are popular in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine and can be cooked in various ways.
They are perfectly roasted in the air fryer, and you will end up with a tender and delicious meal!
Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Lamb Shanks
- Lamb Shanks
- Olive Oil
- Salt
- Black Pepper
How To Make Air Fryer Lamb Shanks
Start by preheating the air fryer to 390 degrees F, air fryer setting. Then rub the lamb chops with the olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper. Place the lamb shanks into the air fryer, and cook for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Check the internal temperature before removing them, and the internal temperature needs to be 160 degrees F.
Pro Tips:
Crowding: Do not crowd the air fryer basket; otherwise, the lamb shanks will not cook up correctly. Leave plenty of room around the shanks to let the air circulate around them.
Timing: Since all air fryers are slightly different, make sure to use a meat thermometer, and check the internal temperature before removing them.
Cooking Them In Air Fryer Oven: Place the rack or tray on the bottom level if you want to make these in an air fryer oven. This way, both the inside and outside cook at the same time.
Seasonings: You can add a lot of flavors by adding some seasonings. Since this is a middle eastern dish, some great ones to use are Za’atar, Baharat, or Aleppo Pepper.
Where To Buy Lamb Shanks?
If you’re a fan of lamb shanks, you know that they can be tough to find in the grocery store. So, where do you go to buy them?
I found a batch at my local Whole Foods, but you can usually find them at any ethnic grocery store or, if you are lucky, at your local grocery store.
How To Store:
Now that you have cooked the perfect lamb shanks, you need to know how to store them. Lamb shanks are a type of meat that can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of days if placed into an airtight container.
