Anyone that knows me knows that I love my air fryer. I have a few recipes that I always make in it, and this stromboli is one of them. It’s so easy to make and is perfect for a quick and easy dinner. You can customize the filling however you want, but this recipe is my favorite. Give it a try!

  • Shaved Ribeye Steak: You can also use shaved steak.
  • Worcheshire Sauce: Tenderizes the meat
  • Minced Garlic: Add some flavor to the dish
  • Lime Juice: Adds some flavor
  • Onions: Minced adds a lot of flavors
  • Bell Peppers: Use a variety of bell peppers for some great color
  • Provolone Cheese: Thinly sliced cheese will melt better
  • Puff Pastry: Use cold puff pastry. You can also use refrigerated pizza dough
  • Egg: This will help your dough crisp up and brown
  • Seasonings: Salt, Black Pepper, Montreal Steak Seasoning.

How To Make Air Fryer Italian Beef Stromboli

Preheat the air fryer to 400* for 5 minutes. In a large mixing bowl, combine shaved steak, Worcestershire, minced garlic, sea salt, pepper, lime juice, onion, and peppers. Toss to distribute sauce and seasoning evenly. Add to an 8-inch baking dish.

Place into the air fryer and cook for 15 minutes. Remove and let cool for 5 minutes as the air fryer preheats for the next step.

Preheat the air fryer to 375* for 5 minutes. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured wooden cutting board.

Spread steak onion and pepper mixture over the top 3/4 of the puff pastry. Top with provolone cheese slices. Tightly roll the puff pastry towards the empty end.

Brush puff pastry with egg wash, then sprinkle Montreal steak seasoning over the top. Make slits across the top to help aerate.

Place into the air fryer, careful to keep the seam on the bottom—Cook for 10 minutes. Carefully flip the stromboli over and cook for five more minutes.

Flipping: Depending on what air fryer you own, you may need to flip the stromboli halfway during the cooking process.

Making Stromboli in An Air Fryer Oven: If you are making this in an air fryer oven, make sure to place your stromboli on the lowest shelf or rack.

Serving Suggestions

Let the stromboli cool for a couple of minutes, and then cut the stromboli into 1 to 2-inch slices. You can either serve it with pizza sauce or even marinara sauce. There is nothing better than dipping your stromboli!

Seasonings: Add some great seasonings even to elevate your stromboli even more. Add some heat with crushed red pepper flakes, hot sauce, or even Slap Ya Momma Seasonings!

Sauces: You can easily add a tablespoon or two marinara sauce or pizza sauce. My favorite is this recipe’s alfredo sauce, which adds so much flavor!

Serving: Serve with either pizza sauce or even marinara sauce. But you can also use alfredo sauce or even ranch dressing!

How to Store & Reheat

You can easily make this dish ahead of time and then reheat the stromboli in the air fryer! If you have any leftovers, let the stromboli cool to room temperature and then place them into an airtight container. It will last for about 4 to 5 days.

To Reheat: Place the stromboli, cut into slices back into the air fryer, heat at 350 degrees F, air fryer setting, and cook until it’s warmed through.

What’s the difference between Calzone and Stromboli? If you’re not sure, you’re not alone. A lot of people get the two Italian dishes confused.

Calzones and stromboli are delicious, but they have a difference that will make you want to try them both! Calzone is made of dough folded into an envelope shape. The half-moon crust gives way to rich flavors from the inside as it’s baked until golden brown on top.

Calzones are usually made for one person, while strombolis are made for a crowd and cut into pieces.

Can you make stromboli in advance?

Yes, you can either assemble it and then store it in the refrigerator until baking or make it ahead of time and reheat it in the air fryer.

IF you want to assemble it ahead of time, make sure that you wrap it tightly in saran wrap so the dough does not dry out.

Can you freeze Stromboli?

Freeze Uncooked Stromboli: To freeze Stromboli BEFORE air frying: Roll up the dough with all filings. Then wrap tightly in saran wrap a couple of times, wrap it in aluminum foil, and place it into a freezer bag. These frozen stromboli will last for 2 to 3 months. Thaw the stromboli in the refrigerator overnight and cook as directed in the recipe card below.

Freeze Cooked Stromboli: To freeze BAKED stromboli, let the stromboli cool to room temperature, wrap it a couple of times in plastic wrap, and then a layer of aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 3 months. Then when you are ready to cook it, defrost it overnight in the refrigerator. They reheat in the microwave or air fryer and heat until warmed through.

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 cup green bell pepper, diced
