Pro Tips:

  • Spray your baking mold with cooking spray, so the donut holes pop out when done.
  • Use a good quality cocoa powder, like Hershey’s, which will give you many flavors and mix smoothly.
  • I have used the Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Vortex, and even the Instant Pot Crisp Lid to bake these donuts. The recipe will work in all air fryer baskets or oven models.
  • You can roll the dough into balls if you do not have a donut pan. About 1 to 2 inches thick, and the recipe will work the same.

HOW DO I SHAPE DONUT HOLES

I was lucky enough to find my donut mold at Williams Sonoma, but not everyone has one.

So, I recommend that you roll your dough into balls, about 1 to 2 inches. You do not want to make them too thick. Otherwise, the center will not cook.

The other option would be to roll them out, cut them with biscuit cutters, and use a 1 1/2-inch or cookie cutter for best results.

CAN I FILL THE AIR FRYER CHOCOLATE DONUT HOLES

You can fill it with anything that you love. These are so good, without reloading, but some of my favorites are:

  • Chocolate Frosting
  • Buttercream Frosting
  • Vanilla Pudding
  • Custard
  • Chocolate Sauce

DO I NEED YEAST TO MAKE AIR FRYER DONUT HOLES

No, this is why the donut recipe is perfect. There is no need to wait for your dough to rise. With baking powder and baking soda, your donuts will rise, and you can bake them right away in your air fryer!

A perfect solution and recipe!

CAN I FREEZE THE AIR FRYER DONUT HOLES

You can make a double or triple batch and freeze some later! The key is to let the donuts cool to room temperature and then place them onto a baking sheet, which has been lined with parchment paper.

Place the baking sheet into the freezer until the donut holes are frozen. Then remove and place them into a freezer-safe container or freezer bag.

The donuts will last for about 1 to 2 months.

For best results, please wait until you thaw them on the counter or refrigerator before icing them.

CAN I MAKE AIR FRYER DONUT HOLES AHEAD

Yes, they can be. I often make a batch the night before and then ice them right before I serve them.

Place them into an airtight container after they cool to room temperature, and they will stay fresh for about 1 to 2 days.

WHAT SHOULD I DIP AIR FRYER DONUT HOLES IN

As you might have noticed, I always use a lot of chocolate for my family, but there are so many options.

Some of my favorites are:

  • Powdered Sugar
  • Cinnamon and Sugar Mix
  • Maple Glaze
  • Vanilla Icing
  • Plain is excellent; they don’t need anything!
