Ingredient Notes

  • Butter: Butter is a crucial ingredient in making scones. The best thing is to freeze the butter or use it straight from the refrigerator. Either way, it’s cold. That is the great secret to getting a flaky scone.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: Combine all of the dry ingredients. All scones have the same essential ingredients: flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Note: If you use salted butter, do not add salt; the scones will become too salty.

How To Cut The Butter Into The Scones

There’s nothing like the smell of fresh scones in the morning. The butter (cold) makes your scone unique. The butter will melt as it cooks, creating a moist, tender, and delicious scone.

You can use a food processor, Kitchen Aid Mixer, or your food grater to cut the butter into the gingerbread scones. This is the key to a light scone!

Can I Make The Dough In Advance?

Yes, you can make this dough in advance. Then cover and refrigerate until you are ready to cook the gingerbread scones!

How To Store:

It is effortless to make scones in advance. Just prepare your dough, and you can either store it in a sealed container or shape the scones and then wrap them in saran wrap. This makes for a great breakfast you can prepare the night before and then bake up in the air fryer in the morning!

Freezing Scones: You can freeze the baked scones if you want a frozen recipe. Then, when you want a quick breakfast, heat the frozen scones in the oven or air fryer.
