Today, I made a great batch of Air Fryer Double Chocolate Chip Muffins while the kids start summer vacation!
Who doesn’t love chocolate in the morning? Today’s recipe doesn’t just include one type of chocolate, but rather two, which resulted in pure delight! Served to them with a cold glass of milk, this makes for two happy teens!
If you have not made muffins in the air fryer yet, the air fryer does an amazing job at perfectly cooking them up, so easy, and they come out moist, fluffy, and tender. They are so good!

Air Fryer Double Chocolate Chip Muffins
Double Chocolate Chip Muffins refers to the fact that you are cooking up these muffins with unsweetened cocoa powder and bittersweet chocolate chips.
The unsweetened cocoa tastes very bitter but gives a great deep chocolate flavor to these muffins.
While the bittersweet chocolate chips give the muffins a sweetness, they perfectly balance each other out. It’s a chocolate lovers’ dream!

Air Fryer Double Chocolate Chip Muffins Recipe Pro Tips
- For best results, mix by hand; otherwise, the mixer will overmix your muffins, which causes them to be dense. Once everything is mixed together, stop mixing.
- Since every air fryer is slightly different, check on the muffins several times during the cooking process.
- You can use any type of bittersweet chocolate you want; sometimes, I use chips. Sometimes, I use pieces; both will work for this recipe.
- For best results, use a metal muffin tin, as they tend to come out better than silicone muffin cups.
Air Fryer Double Chocolate Chip Muffins Recipe Faqs
Can I use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour? Yes, you can substitute whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour, but the texture might be denser. Consider using half whole wheat and half all-purpose for a better balance.
Do I need to preheat the air fryer? Yes, preheating the air fryer for a few minutes ensures that the muffins cook evenly and have a consistent texture.
Can I use regular chocolate chips instead of mini chocolate chips? Absolutely! Regular chocolate chips work just as well. Mini chocolate chips might distribute more evenly, but either will taste delicious.
How do I store leftover muffins? Store leftover muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate them for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
Can I make these muffins dairy-free? Yes, substitute dairy milk with almond milk, soy milk, or any other plant-based milk. Use dairy-free chocolate chips to make the recipe completely dairy-free.
How do I know when the muffins are done? Insert a toothpick into the center of a muffin. If it comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs, the muffins are done.
Can I add nuts to the batter? Yes, feel free to add chopped nuts like walnuts, pecans, or almonds for added texture and flavor.
Can I double the recipe? Yes, you can double the recipe, but you may need to cook the muffins in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Can I use cocoa powder instead of chocolate chips for a lighter version? You can add a tablespoon or two of cocoa powder to the batter for a chocolaty flavor with fewer chocolate chips, or in addition to them for an extra rich taste.
Can I make mini muffins with this recipe? Yes, use mini muffin liners and adjust the cooking time to around 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
