How To Make Air Fryer Garlic Panko Chicken Breast
Start by drying the chicken off with a paper towel. Then use a mallet and pound the chicken until it’s about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.
In a small mixing bowl, mix the panko bread crumbs, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Dip the chicken breast into the beaten egg, and then dip into the panko mixture, covering both sides. Use your hands to press the panko into the breast.
Place the coated chicken breast into the air fryer basket. Spray the coating GENEROUSLY with olive oil; this will help the coating crisp up.
Allow the air fryer to preheat, set the chicken into the air fryer, set the temperature to 370 degrees F (air fryer setting) for 5 minutes, and then flip (Spray again with cooking spray). Air fry for another 3-4 minutes until the chicken’s internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
Pro Tips:
- This is a very easy recipe, and can be prepared and cooked in any air fyrer, wther a basket or oven. I have also made this in the Ninja Foodi, Emeril Power 360, and Instant Pot Vortex Plus. The recipe will work exactly the same.
- For really crispy chicken, you must spray your chicken genersouly with cooking sprya, which will help teh panko crisp up.
- If you find that hte breading is coming off, you have a couple of options, first use your hand to press the panko onto the chicken, so it adheres. The other suggestion would be to use parchment paper, which will help your chiken’s coating stay on, when you flip it. You can also use a silicone reusale liner.

Made this last night. Subbed the pepper with paprika and also cut breasts into strips. Turned out crispy and very good!
I had to laugh at the instruction that says “pray again with cooking spray”.
