I know that many of you have tried the fried chicken and failed, this one is foolproof, and I wanted to walk you through this recipe, just like I did to my son.

While most fried chicken recipes have a flour coating, this one is simple, and you use panko bread crumbs. Instead of setting up breading stations, dip the chicken into a bottle of lemon garlic sauce and then into the panko. Then into your air fryer simple enough?

Dip the chicken into the lemon pepper marinade, then into the panko breadcrumbs. Make sure that the chicken is covered in the marinade, and then use your hand to press the panko into the chicken so it sticks.

Spray your air fryer basket with cooking spray, then add your coated chicken breasts to the basket. Spray the entire chicken breast with cooking spray, set the temperature to 350 degrees F, air fryer setting for 8 minutes, then flip the chicken and cook for another 5 to 8 minutes, but respray it with the cooking spray.

Check the internal temperature, which should be 165 degrees F, before removing it.

Pro Tips

Cooking chicken in an air fryer can produce juicy, flavorful, and crispy results. Here are some tips to help you achieve the best air-fried chicken:

  • Preheat the air fryer: Preheating your air fryer before adding the chicken helps ensure even cooking and a crispy exterior. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for preheating time and temperature.
  • Use boneless, skinless chicken: skinless chicken pieces work best for air frying as they cook more evenly and quickly. You can use chicken breasts, thighs, chicken tenders, or chicken cutlets.
  • Season the chicken: Season the chicken with your preferred spices, herbs, and marinades. This adds flavor and enhances the taste of the chicken. Consider using a dry rub or marinating the chicken for a few hours before cooking for extra flavor.
  • Preparing a coating: For a crispy coating, you can dip the chicken in flour, breadcrumbs, or a mixture of panko and spices. Lightly spray the coated chicken with cooking spray or brush it with a small amount of oil to help achieve a golden and crispy texture.
  • Arrange chicken in a single layer: To ensure even cooking, arrange the chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding, which can lead to uneven cooking and less crispy results. If needed, cook the chicken in batches.
  • Flip or shake halfway through the cooking time, flip the chicken, or gently shake the air fryer basket to promote even browning. This helps achieve a crispy exterior on all sides.
  • Monitor cooking time and temperature: Cooking time and temperature can vary depending on the thickness of the chicken pieces and the specific air fryer model. Start with the recommended cooking time and temperature from your recipe or the chicken packaging, and adjust as needed. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Let the chicken rest: Once the chicken is cooked, allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps the juices redistribute and keeps the chicken moist and tender.

By following these tips, you can enjoy delicious, crispy, and perfectly cooked chicken from your air fryer. Experiment with different seasonings and coatings to create your favorite flavor combinations. Happy air frying!
