How To Make Easy Air Fryer Cheesy Hasselback Potatoes

Step One: Start by washing and drying the Russet potatoes.
Step Two: Carefully make slices across each potato, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch apart, making sure not to cut all the way through. A tip is to place chopsticks or wooden spoons on either side of the potato while slicing to prevent the knife from cutting all the way down.

Step Three: Brush the potatoes with melted butter, ensuring they get into the slices. Sprinkle them with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, again making sure the seasoning gets between the slices.
Step Four: Preheat your air fryer temperature to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C). Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket and set cook time for 30-40 minutes or until they soften and open up. The exact time will depend on the size of the potatoes.

Step Five: Remove the potatoes from the air fryer. Insert slices of cheese into the cuts of each potato. You can use a mix of different cheeses for varied flavors.

Step Five: Return the potatoes to the air fryer and cook for 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the potatoes are cooked. Remove the potatoes from the air fryer. Garnish with chopped fresh herbs like parsley or chives. Serve hot, with sour cream if desired.

Easy Air Fryer Cheesy Hasselback Potatoes Recipe Tips
- Use firm russet potatoes: They hold their shape and cook evenly.
- Don’t slice all the way through: Keep the bottom intact to maintain the Hasselback structure.
- Brush between slices: Coat each potato with butter or oil to ensure crispy edges and rich flavor.
- Cook in a single layer: Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking.
- Add cheese last: Insert cheese after initial cooking to prevent burning and ensure it melts perfectly.
- Garnish for presentation: Sprinkle with fresh chives or parsley for color and added flavor.
- Optional seasoning: Experiment with garlic powder, paprika, or smoked salt for extra depth.
Storing Instructions
- Refrigerator: Let potatoes cool completely, then store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness, or warm in the oven at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.
- Freezing: Not recommended, as the cheese and potato texture may be affected.
