So, to make this popular breakfast sandwich keto and low-carb, we had to make the bread out of shredded mozzarella, almond flour, and cream cheese. All of the other breakfast sandwich ingredients are already keto and low-carb friend, expert for the maple syrup, which we replaced with sugar-free maple syrup!
This made for an excellent and delicious breakfast that the entire family loved!
Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Sausage McGriddle Breakfast Sandwich (McDonald’s Keto Copycat Recipe)

- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- Cream Cheese
- Almond Flour
- Egg
- Sausage Patties
- Scrambled or Fried Eggs
- Cooked Bacon
- Sugar Free Maple Syrup
How To Make Air Fryer Sausage McGriddle Breakfast Sandwich (McDonald’s Copycat Recipe)

- Microwave the mozzarella and cream cheese together in a medium bowl.
2. Microwave first for one minute, stir, and then microwave for another 30 seconds. Cheeses should be well combined.
3. Add almond flour to the cheese mixture.
4. Also, add the egg, but be sure that the cheese mixture is not very hot but still workable, so you do not cook the egg.
5. Stir the ingredients all together and knead if necessary to incorporate the ingredients.
6. Press dough into a flat rectangle between two pieces of parchment paper.
7. Using a biscuit cutter or a cup, cut out the circles for your McGriddle’ bread’.
8. Spray your ‘bread’ with cooking spray and air fry at 400F for 7 minutes, flip, and then air fry for seven more minutes. The ‘bread’ is done when it is browned and crispy.

9. Next, spread some sugar-free maple syrup on top of the copycat McGriddle’ bread’.
10. Assemble your copycat McGriddle with sausage, egg, cheese, and bacon.

Variations:
Eggs: You can use either scrambled or fried eggs for this breakfast sandwich. Another great option is over-easy eggs.
Cheese: You can add a slice of American or Cheddar Cheese on top, and then return to the air fryer or microwave and heat until melted.
Breakfast Meat: Use your favorite breakfast meats, sausage, bacon, or even Candian Ham.

If you want to make a batch of the keto and low-carb bread ahead of time, be ready for the weekend, or when the urge strikes you, to eat your keto McGriddle, you can easily store these or even freeze them.
Let the bread cool to room temperature and then place into an airtight container, set in the refrigerator, and they will last for 2 to 3 days. Any longer than that, you should wrap them in parchment paper and freeze. They will stay well in the freezer for 2 to 3 months.
How To Reheat:
These make for really great sandwiches that you can reheat throughout the week. I love to make a batch on Sunday and then have them as the week progresses. I think meal planning is a great way to stick to our diet program.
To reheat the McGriddle, you can add them to the air fryer basket and set the temperature to 350 degrees F, air fry sitting for 3 to 5 minutes, or until warmed through.

Why almond flour? All I keep on hand is AP flour and self-rising flour. Would either of these work?

This is a Keto Recipe, so we use almond flour. You can easily substitute out the flour for all-purpose.
