Add the salt, and garlic powder. Mix until the spices are evenly spread. Transfer to your air fryer and cook at 330 degrees F, air fryer setting, for 20 to 25 minutes, mixing every 5 minutes or until the onion of softened and slightly golden.

What Types of Onions Are Best For Sauteing?

If you’re unsure what type of onions to buy for sauteing, here are some great suggestions.

There are three main types: yellow, white, and red.

The yellow onion is used for most recipes because it has a sweeter flavor than the other two varieties. White onions have a peppery taste which can be good in dishes such as soups or sauces that need spice; however, they aren’t usually used when cooking meats since they don’t cook down into a very soft texture the other two types do. Red onions are pretty mild and can be substituted with one if needed but are often preferred by people who like less intense flavors.

How To Make Crispy Air Fryer Onions

If you have been looking for a way to make crispy onions without oil, try cooking them in the air fryer. Air frying is a healthy alternative that will give your food that crispiness you crave. In just minutes, you’ll be able to whip up delicious dishes like Copycat French’s Fried Onions!

To make crispy fried onions in your air fryer, dice the onions up, and then set the temperature to 250 degrees F, air fryer setting for 25 to 30 minutes. Make sure that all of the onions are coated with olive oil, and remember to shake the basket several times during the cooking process.

What Can I Use Sauteed Onions On?

You can use them in soups or stews, on top of salads or pasta dishes, or even with grilled vegetables.

I love using the onions on my Air Fryer Blue Cheese Burgers, Air Fryer Italian Meatloaf, or even on a plate of Instant Pot Greek Lemon Rice.

How to Store Caramelized Onions

Caramelized onions are a great way to add flavor and moisture when cooking. They can easily be stored for later use by refrigerating them in an airtight container, which should last about 3 to 4 days.

Another great option is to freeze these, which will last about two months. Place the room temperature onions into a freezer bag.
