A mouthwatering and decadent breakfast quiche that is perfect for a lazy Sunday morning. This artichoke and leek quiche is made with a classic pie crust, rich eggs, and heavy cream and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese. We’ve used caramelized leeks for an extra layer of flavor and texture for the top of the quiche.

The best part about this recipe? You can make it in your air fryer! We recommend using shaved Parmesan cheese topping because it melts so well on top of warm ingredients. Enjoy!

This will make an excellent choice for a lazy Saturday or Sunday, a great Holiday Breakfast, and a great dish to serve at brunch!

What Are Leeks?

Leeks are a type of onion with flat, green stalks and light-colored bulbous roots. They are most often harvested in the winter months. You can use leeks in soups, sauces, or as a side dish with butter or olive oil. You may also want to use leeks instead of onions when making fried rice dishes.

What Are Artichokes?

Artichokes are a type of vegetable that is grown in the Mediterranean region. They have a distinct flavor and texture and are low in calories and nutrients.

What Is A Quiche?

Quiche is a French dish that can be served as an appetizer or a meal. It’s made from eggs, heavy cream, and other ingredients you might want to put in it! In the recipe, we’ll review how to make your own quiche. If you have kids, they will love helping out with the preparation of this dish because it’s so much fun to crack open those eggs and mix everything! Let’s get started!

To make Air Fryer Caramelized Leeks and Artichoke Quiche, follow these steps:

How To Make Air Fryer Caramelized Leeks and Artichoke Quiche

Remove the refrigerated pie crust from the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before preparing the quiche. To caramelize the leeks, heat butter, and sliced leeks in a heavy-bottomed saucepan or Dutch oven over medium heat until the butter is melted. Stir to coat all of the leeks in the butter.

Sprinkle leeks with a pinch of salt and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, frequently stirring, for about 30 minutes, until the leeks are golden brown and fully caramelized. After the first 15-20 minutes, you may notice some browning in the bottom of the pan; add a tablespoon or two of water to the pan while the leeks are caramelizing to prevent burning. Repeat as needed while caramelizing.

To make Air Fryer Caramelized Leeks and Artichoke Quiche, follow these steps:

Unroll the dough and place your tart pan on top of the crust. Cut a circle (it doesn’t have to be perfect) about 1 inch outside the border of the tart pan.

Press the crust into the tart pan, tucking the edges along the sides and cutting off any excess dough so the crust is even with the top of the pan.

To make Air Fryer Caramelized Leeks and Artichoke Quiche, follow these steps:

Place the tart pan into the air fryer basket and cook at 300°F for 5 minutes. Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of caramelized leeks and the artichoke heart pieces into the bottom of the cooked crust.

To make Air Fryer Caramelized Leeks and Artichoke Quiche, follow these steps:

Whisk together egg and heavy cream until smooth and fluffy.  Carefully pour the egg mixture over the fillings in the crust. The egg mixture should reach the top edge of the crust. Do not overfill.

Sprinkle shaved parmesan cheese over the top of the egg mixture.  Place the prepared quiche back into the air fryer’s basket and cook at 300 degrees F for another 10 minutes or until the egg is set in the center

Allow to cool for 1-2 minutes, then carefully pop the quiche from the tart pan. Use a spatula to remove the quiche from the bottom plate of the tart pan and serve immediately or set it on a cooling rack to cool.

Pro Tips/Notes:

  • You will only use about ¼ of the leeks and butter for one 5” quiche. Leftover caramelized leeks will keep in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
  • You may be able to fit two quiches into the air fryer at once. Test out the space before filing the tart pans. Cooking two at once did not affect the cooking time in my air fryer, but I adjusted accordingly.
  • You can use any cheese that you’d like. Most caramelized leek/artichoke recipes do not include cheese, but a bit of parmesan or feta over the top of the quiche is sometimes included.
  • I found the best results by pre-cooking the crust for about 5 minutes before adding the filling. Otherwise, the crust does not cook on the bottom until the egg filling is set.
  • One large egg is the perfect amount for this individual quiche. Adjust the amount of heavy cream you add if you need a bit more filling. You may not use all of the egg fillings, either. You can fill to the top of the crust edge, but the amount of egg needed will vary slightly depending on how many other ingredients you’ve added to the quiche.
  • To reheat the quiche, place them back into the air fryer at 300° until warmed through.

Can You Make a Quiche Ahead of Time?

Do you love making quiche but don’t have time to make one from scratch each morning? Maybe you’re cooking all day and want a quick, nutritious breakfast or snack before bed.

This is a great make-ahead meal that you can have at any time. Once your quiche is cooled to room temperature, cover it with Saran wrap and place it in the refrigerator. The quiche will last for 2 to 3 days.

Reheat in either the microwave or the air fryer. Heat until warmed through.
