What is Bang Bang Chicken?
Bang Bang Chicken is characterized by a crispy chicken dish and then covered in a Bang Bang Sauce, made from mayonnaise, sweet chili, and sriracha sauce.
The air fryer does an amazing job of crisping up the chicken while keeping it moist and tender. Once you try it, it will be on your menu weekly! It is that good!
Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Bang Bang Chicken
The key to a tasty bang bang chicken recipe is finding the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The addition of honey and sriracha in my go-to recipe does just that. The chicken is coated in a mixture of flour and cornstarch, giving it a crisp outer shell. The marinade combines honey, soy sauce, sriracha, and rice wine vinegar for a mouthwatering flavor. How To Make Air Fryer Bang Bang Chicken
Dice chicken into bite-sized pieces sections. Create an assembly line for breading the chicken. Place flour and black pepper in a large bowl, ½ cup buttermilk in another, and then place panko bread crumbs and salt in s medium bowl.
Dip chicken pieces in flour. Then, dip in buttermilk batter, then panko breadcrumbs until evenly coated.
Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray.
Place chicken in a basket and spray the top of the chicken with olive oil spray. Set to 390 degrees F, air fryer setting, for 5 minutes. Flip, spray with olive oil spray, and cook for 5 more minutes.
Create bang bang sauce by mixing sriracha, mayo, and sweet chili sauce, in a small mixing bowl. Gently toss the chicken in the sauce. Garnish with green onions and enjoy!
Pro Tips For Getting The Best Bang Bang Chicken Air Fryer
This dish can really benefit from a crispy chicken underneath the sauce. You want to make sure that you have a great base of chicken to add the sauce to. Here are some of my suggestions for making the best dish of Air Fryer Bang Bang Chicken.
- Spray your chicken with non stick cooking spray. If you want any breading to crisp up in the air fryer, you really need to make sure that it’s well covered in cooking spray.
- Shake the basket throughout the cooking process, so each piece of chicken gets crisped up.
- To prevent your chicken from drying out, I suggest that you use a meat thermometer to make sure the chicken is cooked throughout but not overcooked, which will tend to dry out the chicken.
- Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces this way they cook up in minutes.
- Serve with your favorite hot sauce!

If you have never had Bang Bang Chicken sauce, you are in for a real treat. With only a few ingredients, you create a great sauce. This is one of my favorite creamy sweet chili mayo recipes, and it’s so good.
is a combination of mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha sauce. It creates a great flavor combination. All of the items are located in the Asian section of your grocery store and are readily available.
You can serve some extra sauce on the side for dipping if you have any extra. My kids love eating this sauce on their chicken nuggets, so if you have any leftovers, store them for later.
How To Store Bang Bang Chicken
When it comes to properly store bang bang chicken, the key is to keep it cold. Refrigerate any leftovers within 2 hours of cooking, and consume within 3-4 days, either place into a large resealable plastic bag or reusable airtight container.
To Reheat Bang Bang Chicken In Air Fryer
Make sure to fully defrost in the refrigerator before microwaving or heating on the stove. When freezing leftovers, tightly wrap the chicken in plastic wrap or an airtight container before placing it in the freezer.

- 1 teaspoon salt
