This Air Fryer Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich is an amazing treat! Making this breakfast recipe in the air fryer is such a breeze.

Air Fryer Bacon, Egg and Gouda Breakfast Sandwich

This was oh so good, and it only took a few more minutes to make that a frozen breakfast sandwich and it tasted amazing.

The best thing about you making your own breakfast sandwiches is that you control what you put into them. Today, I opted for bacon, gouda, and egg, but changed it out for all your favorites.

My kids love eating a hearty meal in the morning, and while we can opt for frozen breakfast sandwiches, these are just as fast, and they are so good!

Air Fryer Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich

Like most people obsessed with their air fryers, I usually see something and say, “I can make that in my air fryer!” So, when my son wanted to order a 7-dollar bacon gouda sandwich at Starbucks, I thought, “I could make that!”

While the Starbucks bacon gouda sandwich is made on an artisan roll or ciabatta, I opted for regular whole-grain toast, which is easier for my kids to eat.

It has the same layers of bacon, gouda, and egg. However, I used a fried egg, while the traditional Starbucks bacon gouda sandwich has a baked egg. Either would work!

How To Make a Bacon Gouda Sandwich in the Air Fryer

Butter bread

Step 1: Start by buttering your bread, both pieces (only one side on each side of bread)

Bread and Cheese on Air Fryer Tray

Step 2: In your air fryer basket or on your air fryer tray, set one slice on bread butter side down and the other butter side up. Top the slice that is butter side down with cheese. This way, each gets toasted, and the cheese melts.

Step 3: Meanwhile, cook the bacon and fry the egg on the stove. You can also cook bacon in the air fryer and even cook your egg in the air fryer!

Egg on Toast

Step 4: Once your bread is toasted, add the bacon layer on top of the cheese and top it with an egg.

AIR FRYER, BACON, EGG AND GOUDA BREAKFAST SANDWICH

Expert Tips

  • Wait until the cheese is completely melted before removing the toast.
  • For best results, assemble the sandwich and then put it back into the air fryer for a couple of seconds so everything melts together.
  • Use a bit more butter than you think you should. The butter melts into the bread and causes it to be amazing.
  • Frying eggs, leave it a bit runny in the center, so when you bite into the bread, it oozes out.

Substitutions and Variations

  • You can trade the bacon for sausage or Canadian bacon if you’d like.
  • We used gouda cheese to make this a Starbucks bacon gouda copycat, but you can use any cheese you prefer.
  • You can substitute the fried egg for baked or scrambled eggs.
  • Experiment with different types of bread for your air fryer bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Ciabatta or sourdough would be perfect for this recipe.

Storing Tips

This is a great recipe to make and freeze. However, I would switch out the fried eggs for baked eggs. Fried eggs will not freeze well.

Make a batch, double or triple the recipe, and then place them into a freezer bag and reheat them in the air fryer.

What To Serve With An Air Fryer Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich

This recipe is great on it’s own, but we also love to serve it with a fruit salad or sliced avocados.

A cold glass of milk or a cup of hot coffee compliments this recipe perfectly.

Recipe FAQs

What kind of bacon is best for an air fryer bacon egg and cheese sandwich?

We love center cut bacon, but you can also use Hardwood smoked, maple flavored, black pepper, or even turkey bacon! Just be sure to adjust your cook times if you use thick cut bacon since it will take longer to cook.

What kind of bread is on a Starbucks Bacon Gouda Sandwich?

Starbucks uses ciabatta bread. We have opted for a whole wheat toast here, but ciabatta or sourdough would be perfect as well.

Can you freeze an air fryer bacon egg and cheese sandwich?

Sure! You can freeze these in freezer bags for up to 3 months. We do not recommend frying your eggs if you plan to freeze them, though- Baked or scrambled will work better.
