This is one of the greatest baking hacks. Literally, you do nothing that would take you more than 10 minutes, and you end up with a great hot donut. I call them my Air Fryer Powdered Sugar Donuts, and they are one of my family’s favorites.
Armed with an air fryer, I was set to make some of my family’s favorite recipes. I was not looking to recreate the wheel, just make things that we have been making in our oven, or grill in the air fryer. Thinking it would be a great alternative to fast food, plus I really thought I would be saving a lot of money in the process.
The Simple Ingredients:
- 1 can buttermilk biscuits, I personally like Grands
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- Olive oil spray
How To Make Them:
- Layout the buttermilk biscuits. Use a biscuit cutter to cut the middle of your donut out.
- Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil cooking spray, so the biscuits, don’t stick.
- Place the biscuits into the air fryer basket.
- Air Fry for 7 minutes at 350 degrees F. (air fryer setting)
- While the donuts are air frying, pour your powdered sugar into a bowl.
- When your donuts come out of the air fryer (I did two batches) place them on a plate, and then sprinkle the powdered sugar over them.
- Plate, serve, and enjoy!

Some Tips For Making Air Fryer Powdered Sugar Donuts–
- If you do not have a biscuit cutter, simply use a cookie-cutter.
- You can make mini donuts (munchkins, my kids call them, but air frying the middle of the donuts)
- Eat them while they are hot, they start to go from amazing to so, so if you wait to eat them.
How Do You Store Leftover Biscuit Dough-
This is a common question. I make the entire batch at once, but if you are only making 1 or 2 donuts, then simply place the leftover dough into a resealable bag.
How To Store Air Fried Biscuit Donuts-
As I stated below these donuts taste best when they are fresh, but you can always store them for later, here are some hints.
After they have cooled down to room temperature, just place them into a sealed airtight container. If you leave them on the counter, then they should last another day.
If you would like to keep them longer, just place them in an airtight container, after letting them get to room temperature, and place the container into the refrigerator, they should last about a week.
Some Common Questions About Making These Donuts–
- Can You Use Other Dough, can it be frozen? Yes. I have used it and they come out wonderfully. Simply just let the dough defrost.
- After years and years of making these, I now find that the best way to make these donuts is to dip them into butter, and then air fry them. I kept the recipe the same, but I know change my own method.
