Variations To Recipe
Here are a few simple ways to change up this recipe.
- Panko Crusted: Coat the fish in Greek yogurt or mayonnaise, add your seasonings, and coat the fish with panko breadcrumbs. Then, spray lightly with cooking oil to create a crispy-coated fish.
- Citrus Twist: For a sweeter citrus twist, swap the lemon for oranges. Then, add some orange zest and sprinkle it on the fish once it is done for more orange flavor.
- Spicy: To help add heat to the fish, mix in some cayenne pepper, Cajun pepper, or even a few sprinkles of hot sauce. You will air fry the fish fillets the same way.
- Oven Bake: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Then, you will prep the fish the same way and place it on a prepared-rimmed baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the fish is fully cooked.

Air Fryer Rockfish Fish Recipe Pro Tips
- Fresh or Frozen: For this recipe, you can use fresh, frozen, or partially thawed fish fillet. The cooking time will vary slightly.
- Crowding: For best results, leave plenty of space around the rockfish so it cooks to perfection. Remember, an air fryer works by hot air circulating around the food, cooking it to perfection. When you crowd the air fryer, the hot air will be limited, causing your food to be raw and overcooked elsewhere.
- Flipping: Depending on your air fryer, you may need to flip your fish halfway through the cooking process. This will enable both sides to be fully cooked.
- Sticking: To prevent sticking you can either spray your air fryer basket with cooking spray, use a disposable air fryer liner or use a reusable air fryer liner.
- Timing: Since every air fryer cooks at a different rate, you should watch your fish as it cooks up, so you don’t end up with an overcooked or burnt piece of fish. You can remove your fish once you can easily flake it with a fork.

I made the Rockfish as directed,, it was very tasty. My air fryer does not have a basket it has shelves so I sprayed the shelf with olive oil Pam. That made it so easy to remove.
I will try cod next, as I do not like coated fish, I like them natural.
Thank you
