A GREAT AND EASY AIR FRYER SNACK–

WHAT IS AN AIR FRYER?

An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that can be used as an efficient way of cooking. It’s essentially mini convection ovens on your countertop, which use hot air circulated around food for crispiness and ease of eating without messes from oil spills or other fats commonly found in deep fat frying process equipment.

Almonds: I used whole almonds, but you can use sliced or almond pieces.

Sugar: I used regular granulated sugar, but you can use any sugar substitute, stevia, or even a Keto or low-carb alternative.

Seasonings: I used salt, cayenne pepper. They add a lot of flavors, so use your favorite herbs.

Oil: I used olive oil, but you can use any high smoking point oil, such as coconut oil, grapeseed oil, or sesame seed oil.

Honey: I used honey, but you can change that to agave nectar. It adds a great sweetness to the almonds.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER ROASTED ALMONDS

Air Fryer Roasted Almonds

Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F, air fryer setting, preheat for about 3 to 5 minutes. Then add your almonds to the air fryer basket, set the time for 5 minutes, shaking your basket several times during the cooking process. Remember, nuts can burn quickly, so observe!

Remove your almonds from the air fryer basket.

In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, salt, and cayenne pepper. Set aside. In a large skillet, heat water, honey, and oil over medium heat. When you start to see bubbles, add toasted almonds and coat with mixture.

Remove from heat and spoon almonds into a bowl with the sugar mixture and stir until all the almonds are well coated. Allow to cool and then serve!

Pro Tips:

Almonds take a long time to cook but can go from almost done in 5 minutes but burnt in 6 minutes. Almond fans will need to pay attention and check on their food often once it’s been put into the air fryer because these nuts burn easily!

Almonds should be crisp with both lighter shades of brown around them and darker spots throughout when they are ready for eating.

Leave them out at room temperature; then, you can move them to a sealed container. You do not want to store them while they are warm.

Shake your basket several times during the cooking process, so they evenly cook up.

DO YOU HAVE TO PREHEAT AN AIR FRYER?

Preheating an air fryer is a great idea when roasting dry roasted almonds. The hot baskets give the perfect crispiness for this type of nut and make them easier to handle, even if your hands are cold from getting out of bed early on those winter mornings!

HOW LONG DO I COOK ALMONDS FOR IN THE AIR FRYER?

This is the most challenging item to answer. The exact timing will depend on how large your almonds are and what air fryer you are using.

So for best results, keep an eye on your almonds as they can go from almost done to burnt in just 5 minutes! I like to watch my nuts as they roast up to make sure they are perfectly roasted.

STORING AIR FRYER ROASTED ALMONDS

Air fryer roasted almonds are a healthier and more affordable alternative to deep-frying. They will stay fresh for months if stored properly in an airtight jar or container at room temperature with no exposure to sunlight, moisture, or heat beyond what is required during the cooking process.

WAYS TO USE ROASTED ALMONDS

Roasted almonds are a versatile snack that you can use in many different ways. They can be eaten as they are, added to salads or soups for a crunchy texture and taste, or crushed up and made into a paste. The possibilities of using roasted almonds are endless!

If you have never tried these tasty nuts before, you will soon find them as your favorite snacks!
