How To Make Easy Air Fryer Apple Danish

Chopped caramels and diced apples mixed with apple pie spice and sugar in a bowl.

Step One: Start by chopping the caramels up into smaller pieces. Set them aside and chop the apple into small pieces as well- discarding the stem, core, and seeds. Place the caramels, apple pie spice, and granulated sugar in a bowl.

Vanilla extract, softened cream cheese, and chopped apples mixed together in a bowl, ready for air frying.

Step Two: Next, add the vanilla extract and the softened cream cheese to the bowl. Add the chopped apple. Mix well with a spatula. Set aside. Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees F, air fryer setting, then line the air fryer basket with a piece of parchment paper.

Crescent dough cut and shaped into round Danish pastries with edges rolled up, arranged on parchment paper in the air fryer basket.

Step Three: Cut the crescent dough into smaller pieces (About  five inches across or so, you can make them as big or as small as you like – this will determine how many Danish you end up with, though.)

Step Four: Form each crescent dough piece into round flat Danish shapes, rolling up the edges like a crust. Place each piece on the parchment paper. You don’t want them to overlap or touch. (You may have to do more than one batch. I was able to fit four Danish in at a time. )

Step Five: Place a heaping scoop of the caramel apple mixture right in the middle of each crescent dough piece. Place the air fryer basket into the air fryer and “air fry” the Danish for about 6-8 minutes or until golden brown.

Step Six: Once they’re fully cooked, remove them from the air fryer & allow them to cool for a few minutes. Then, drizzle each with the caramel sauce.

Easy Air Fryer Apple Danish Recipe Tips

  • Use firm, crisp apples: Varieties like Golden Delicious or Honeycrisp hold their shape and add natural sweetness.
  • Don’t overfill: Place a moderate scoop of apple-caramel filling in the center to avoid spillage while cooking.
  • Space pastries apart: Ensure Danish pieces don’t touch in the air fryer for even cooking and golden edges.
  • Check air fryer size: Cook in batches if needed to prevent overcrowding.
  • Optional toppings: Drizzle with extra caramel sauce or powdered sugar glaze for a bakery-style finish.

Storing Instructions

  • Room Temperature: Store cooled Danish in an airtight container for up to 1 day for best freshness.
  • Refrigerator: Keep in a sealed container for 3–4 days; reheat in the air fryer or oven before serving.
  • Freezing: Freeze fully cooked Danish in a freezer-safe container for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes.
  • Reheating: Warm in the air fryer at 325°F for 3–5 minutes or in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes to restore flakiness and warmth.
