Variations For Your S’mores Mini Pies

Variations can bring exciting twists to the classic s’mores pie. Here are some ideas to elevate or change up your s’mores pie:

  • Flavored Graham Cracker Crusts: Use chocolate pie crust or cinnamon graham crackers for a different crust flavor.
  • Different Chocolates: Swap out the traditional Hershey Bar milk chocolate for white, dark, or even flavored chocolates like peppermint or orange-infused.
  • Nutty Addition: Spread a thin layer of peanut or almond butter on the crust before adding chocolate. Alternatively, sprinkle chopped nuts on top for crunch.
  • Fruity Twist: Add a layer of fruit preserves or fresh banana slices between the chocolate and marshmallow layers.
  • Spice It Up: A sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of caramel can add a new depth of flavor. For the daring, a tiny sprinkle of chili powder with dark chocolate can be delicious!
  • Marshmallow Variations: Use flavored marshmallows, like coconut or strawberry, or swap traditional marshmallows for a marshmallow fluff or cream.
  • Salted Caramel S’mores: Drizzle caramel over the chocolate and finish with a sprinkle of sea salt.
  • Tropical S’mores Pie: To make this pie, use a coconut-flavored graham crust, white chocolate, and toasted coconut shavings on top of the marshmallows.
  • Coffee Lovers: Drizzle coffee-flavored syrup over the chocolate or mix coffee powder with marshmallow fluff for a mocha-inspired treat.
  • Cookies ‘n Cream: Add crushed Oreo, chocolate chips,  or similar cookies between the chocolate and marshmallow layers.

What If I Can’t Find Graham Cracker Mini Pie Crusts

If you can not find a mini pie crust, depending on which air fryer you own, you can use a regular-size graham cracker crust.

If you have a smaller air fryer, prepare graham cracker crumbs and butter and press them into a small ramekin or dish. Follow the directions on the graham cracker crumb box.

Pro Tips For Air Fryer S’mores Pie

When crafting the perfect Air Fryer S’mores Pie, consider these pro tips to enhance the experience:

  • Consistent Size: Ensure that the pieces of chocolate and marshmallows are evenly sized and distributed to allow for uniform melting and browning.
  • Monitor Closely: Air fryers can vary in how they heat, and marshmallows can brown quickly. Watch them closely, especially during the last 1-2 minutes, to avoid over-browning or burning.
  • Preheat: Always preheat your air fryer for optimal results. This ensures even cooking from the moment you place the pie inside.
  • Non-stick: To prevent the air fryer from sticking, consider using parchment paper circles or a light spray of non-stick cooking spray at the base.
  • Spacing: When placing pies in the air fryer, ensure they are not touching. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking.
  • Temperature: If your air fryer runs hot, reduce the temperature by 25°F and adjust the cooking time.
  • Layering: Break the chocolate into smaller pieces rather than using a large chunk for an even melt. This will ensure it melts at the same rate as the marshmallows.
  • Texture Variation: Use marshmallow fluff or cream instead of whole marshmallows for a slightly different texture.
  • Cooling: Let the pies sit for a minute or two after cooking. This allows the chocolate to settle, making the pies easier to handle.
  • Experiment & Adjust: The first time you make them, treat it as a test run. Adjust based on your observations for the next batch, and don’t be afraid to experiment with fillings and flavors!
Air Fryer S'mores Mini Pies

Can I use any chocolate for my S’mores Pie? Yes, you can use milk, dark, white, or flavored chocolates based on your preference. Each will provide a distinct taste.

My marshmallows browned too quickly. What can I do? Air fryers can vary in heat intensity. If your marshmallows are browning too fast, reduce the temperature and increase the cooking time slightly. Monitoring closely during the cooking process is also essential.

Can I make these in advance for a party? While S’mores Pies are best enjoyed fresh and warm, you can prepare them in advance and reheat them in the air fryer before serving. These are perfect for a camping trip!

What if I don’t have mini graham cracker crusts? You can use regular-sized pie crusts or even make your own using crushed graham crackers, melted butter, and a touch of sugar.

Is there a vegan version of this S’mores Pie? Absolutely! Use vegan-friendly graham crusts, dairy-free chocolate, and marshmallows to create a vegan version.

The bottom of my pies isn’t crispy. How can I fix this? Preheat the air fryer and consider using perforated parchment paper or a light, non-stick spray. This will help the base crisp up and circulate heat better.

How do I store leftover S’mores Pies? If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. For more extended storage, consider refrigerating, but note that the crust might lose some of its crispness.
