- Versatility in Ingredients: A griddle’s flat surface is perfect for not only crisping nachos but also for cooking and adding various toppings like meats, beans, and vegetables, all in one place.
- Enhanced Flavor: Cooking on a griddle can impart a slight smokiness and a unique flavor to the nachos, elevating the overall taste.
- Easy to Customize: The large surface allows for easy customization of nachos. You can create different sections with various toppings to cater to different tastes, all on the same griddle.
- Convenient and Social Cooking: Cooking outdoors on a griddle makes the process more of a social event, allowing guests to gather around and customize their plates.
- Simple Cleanup: Blackstone griddles are relatively easy to clean, making post-cooking cleanup a breeze compared to using multiple pans or baking sheets.

How To Make Nachos On Blackstone
- Prepare the Toppings: If using meat, cook it thoroughly on the griddle, seasoning it with taco spices, salt, and pepper. Once cooked, set it aside. Sauté any vegetables like onions and bell peppers lightly on the griddle for a few minutes until they soften. Add your cooked protein (beef, chicken, or pork) and beans over the cheese. Layer on the sautéed vegetables, jalapeños, black olives, and other toppings you like.
- Assemble the Nachos: Spread a layer of tortilla chips evenly across the griddle. Ensure it’s hot enough to melt cheese but not so hot that it burns the chips. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheese over the chips.
- Grill the Nachos: Let the nachos cook on the griddle for a few minutes. The goal is to melt the cheese thoroughly and warm all the ingredients together. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent the bottom chips from burning.
- Add Cold Toppings and Garnishes: Once the cheese is melted and the nachos are warmed, top them with cold ingredients like chopped tomatoes, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or avocado.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the nachos straight from the griddle for everyone to enjoy. The dish is best enjoyed hot and fresh. Garnish with fresh cilantro and lime wedges. Optionally, add green onions or corn for extra flavor and texture.
Pro Tips Blackstone Nachos Recipe
- Low and Slow Heat: Start with a lower heat setting on your Blackstone griddle. High heat can burn the chips and melt the cheese too quickly, leading to a less-than-ideal texture.
- Layering is Key: Build your nachos in layers. Start with a layer of chips, then add cheese and your chosen toppings. Repeat the layers to ensure every bite is full of flavor.
- Choose the Right Chips: Opt for thick, restaurant-style tortilla chips. They hold up better against the weight of the toppings and don’t become soggy as quickly as thinner chips.
- Balance Your Toppings: Distribute your toppings evenly over the chips. This ensures every chip has a good cheese, meat, and veggie mix.
- Pre-Cook Heavier Toppings: First, Cook heavier toppings like meat or dense vegetables on the griddle. This enhances their flavor and ensures they are adequately heated when added to the nachos.
- Cheese Matters: Use a mix of cheeses for the best flavor and melting qualities. A combination of cheddar for sharpness and Monterey Jack for meltiness works great.
- Watch the Edges: Chips on the outside edges of the griddle can cook faster. Occasionally rotate them towards the center and the center chips towards the edge for even cooking.
- Garnish After Cooking: Add cold toppings like sour cream, salsa, and guacamole after removing the nachos from the griddle. This keeps these ingredients fresh and cool.
- Serve Immediately: Nachos are best served hot and fresh off the griddle. The longer they sit, the more likely the chips will become soggy.
- Clean the Griddle While Warm: After enjoying your nachos, clean your Blackstone griddle while it’s warm. It’s easier to scrape off cheese and other bits before they harden.
