Ingredients Needed

Ingredients needed for Air Fryer Parmesan and Herb Bubble Bread on kitchen table.
  • Refrigerated Canned Biscuits: The quick, convenient base for soft, pull-apart dough.
  • Butter: Provides richness and helps create the savory garlic coating.
  • Parsley: Adds fresh color and a subtle, herbaceous Italian flavor.
  • Garlic Powder: Delivers a concentrated, foundational aromatic garlic taste.
  • Minced Garlic: Offers a fresh, pungent, intense burst of garlic flavor.

How To Make Air Fryer Parmesan and Herb Bubble Bread

Mixing melted butter, dried parsley, garlic powder, and minced garlic for the bubble bread coating.

Step One: Start by mixing the melted butter, dried parsley, garlic powder, and minced garlic in a small mixing bowl. Mix well. Spray your air fryer-safe pan with a non-sticking cooking spray. Make sure it’s coated well, as you don’t want any of the bread to stick.

Cutting biscuit dough into pieces, rolling into balls, coating with garlic herb butter, and placing them in a baking pan.

Step Two: Cut your biscuit (1 of them) into 4 pieces. Then roll them into balls, and then coat them with the butter mixture. As you coat them, place them into your greased baking pan.

Pan filled with herb and Parmesan coated biscuit dough balls placed into the air fryer basket to cook.

Step Three: Once you have finished and used up all your dough, place the pan into the air basket or on the air fryer rack. Set the air fryer temperature to 330 degrees F, air fryer setting, set cook time for 12 to 16 minutes. Brush with melted butter right before serving.

Air Fryer Parmesan and Herb Bubble Bread Recipe Tips

  • Grease the Pan Heavily: Because the biscuits expand significantly, you must thoroughly coat your air fryer-safe baking pan with non-stick spray, especially the corners and edges. This prevents the melted cheese and dough from sticking.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Balls: When coating the cut biscuit pieces, try not to stack them too tightly in the pan. Leave a tiny bit of space between them (or just enough room for them to barely touch) so the air can circulate around the dough, promoting even cooking and pull-apart texture.
  • Use Low Heat: Air fryer bubble bread is best cooked at a lower temperature. A higher temperature will burn the exposed cheese and butter mixture on the outside before the dough is cooked through in the center.
  • Check the Center: Since the dough is dense, it’s crucial to ensure the center is fully cooked. After the initial cooking time, gently pull two sections apart; the dough inside should be light, fluffy, and cooked, not wet or gummy.
  • Customize the Herbs: Feel free to swap the parsley for other dried herbs like oregano, rosemary, or Italian seasoning to vary the flavor profile.

Storing Instructions

  • Storing (Refrigerated): Store any leftover Air Fryer Parmesan and Herb Bubble Bread in an airtight container or sealable plastic bag at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Ensure the bread is completely cool before sealing to prevent excess moisture from making the crust soggy.
  • Freezing: To freeze, wrap the cooled bread tightly in plastic wrap, followed by a layer of aluminum foil, or place it in a large freezer bag; it will keep well for up to 2 months. Thaw the bread completely at room temperature before attempting to reheat it.
  • Reheating: To reheat and restore crispness, place the bubble bread back into the air fryer at 300 degrees F, for 3–5 minutes, or until heated through.

Air Fryer Parmesan and Herb Bubble Bread Recipe Faqs

Why is the center of my bread doughy? This usually means the cooking temperature was too high or the time was too short. The outside gets too dark before the dense center cooks; stick to the lower temperature of 330 degrees F, and ensure your air fryer pan is not too deep.

Can I use a cake pan or metal loaf pan? Yes, as long as the pan is metal and fits inside your air fryer basket with adequate space for air circulation around all sides. Silicone or glass pans generally do not work well in the air fryer.

What kind of canned biscuits work best? Use the standard-sized refrigerated flaky or buttery biscuits (often 8 to 10 count per package). Avoid the oversized ‘Grand’ size, as they are too dense for this cooking time.

Can I make this sweet instead of savory? Absolutely! Skip the garlic, Parmesan, and herbs, and instead coat the dough balls in melted butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Drizzle with a simple glaze after baking.

How do I prevent the cheese from sticking to the pan? Generously coat the air fryer pan with non-stick cooking spray before placing the dough inside. This prevents the melted butter and cheese from gluing the bread to the metal.

Notes

  • This recipe will work in any Air Fryer Basket or Oven Model. I have also cooked this up in the Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Vortex, GoWise, Emeril Air Freyr, Instant Pot Crisp Lid, and even the Mealthy Lid. The recipe will remain the same the cooking time will vary.
  • You can use frozen bread dough for this recipe, and it will work the same. The cooking time will be increased since you are starting with frozen dough.
  • For best results, use a thinner pan, but if you have any dough leftover, don’t stack the dough. Otherwise, it will not fully cook.
  • A single layer will cook up better than stacking the dough. Where you stack, the dough will remain raw.
  • Continue to bake until all of the dough is fully cooked. If you find that the dough is raw in the middle still, cover the dough tightly with aluminum foil, and reduce the temperature to 300 degrees F, air fryer setting, until the entire Air Fryer Parmesan and Herb Bubble Bread are cooked.
