Tips and Tricks for Cooking Frozen Ravioli
I have come up with a few tried and true tricks to cook frozen ravioli.
- Make sure you use enough water to cover your ravioli (I add one cup of water at a time until the frozen cheese ravioli are covered).
- Spray the bottom of the pot with some olive oil spray to make sure the pasta does not stick.
- The cooking time, in the pressure cooker, for this recipe is quick, so stay close. Overcooked pasta is mushy and not very appetizing.
- Choose the high-pressure setting over the low-pressure for the best ravioli texture. The high heat makes it cook through really quickly.
- Frozen ravioli works better than fresh for this instant pot recipe.
- Add chicken broth or beef broth instead of water to make it into an instant pot ravioli more flavorful.
- A quick release of pressure is essential for this instant pot ravioli. When the natural release pressure is chosen, the pasta cooks too long and tends to fall apart.

I can’t wait to try this-
Does the Pasta sauce warm up with the raviolis or do you need to get it hot on stove?
Maggie
Love this but how about unfrozen ravioli? You know like fresh pasta? Or even cheese tortellini?
Laurie
Fresh Ravioli, while wonderful and delicious will not do well under pressure. It shreds.

I do the refrigerated ravioli all the time. Pour in the sauce, add some water (I use the sauce jar so I get all the flavor…enough water to 3/4 cover the pasta). Then pressure cook for 2 minutes. Has worked great so far!

Oh my goodness! I followed your directions to the letter and my frozen raviolis turned out amazing! I have always had them fall apart when boiling them on the stove and these are in tact! Thank you so much for sharing the secret to raviolis!

I am a fan of cooking pasta in the instant pot. I have some ravioli in the freezer and had wondered if it would work too. Glad to know it will since I am waiting for my new stove to arrive. I also love the ravioli bake. I didn’t see on your website if you tried it in the instant pot too.
