My kids love deviled eggs, they are the perfect kid (and finger) food, perfect for picking up, and eating. They are also easy to make for appetizers, parties, get-togethers and other fun activities. They are extremely popular at BBQ’s in the summer.
I usually cook a batch of hard-boiled eggs during the weekend, and then my kids either devour them, during the week, or I make them as an after-school snack by transforming them into deviled eggs. The egg yolks are usually mashed with mayonnaise, although the new thing that I have seen in magazines and on tv shows is that they are mashed with avocados. That sounds interesting, so I will be doing those soon. Although, my kids might not be that eager to eat them. But, they sound great for a girls night.
I looked at Wikipedia, to see where deviled eggs came from and Wikipedia states that they come all the way back from Ancient Rome (who knew, I was thinking that they only came into existence in the ’70s, with the rest of the funky food). What I did know, and I have read is that every area in American has there own district deviled eggs, which is a regional dish. So, if you go to the Southern part of the United States, they serve “southern deviled eggs.” Which, I did make and they are amazing. My kids gobbled them up, they are served with pickles. Eggs and pickles, what an unusual combination. But, the flavors work, which is all that matters when you are cooking.
I have not tried the varieties of different eggs from other countries, but they seem interesting, I will be making Russian eggs soon because they look amazing, I might splurge soon and make the deviled eggs with caviar,
There are So many ways that you can turn up the classic, deviled eggs.
So, today I wanted to give you some tips for making them.
- Use fresh eggs, the older the eggs, the harder they are to peel.
- Cut lengthwise, they are easier to fill.
- When you cut the eggs, in half, cut the bottom a little bit, so they stand up, by themselves. They are easier for you to both fill and serve since they will not fall over.
- Blend as smooth as you can, because they make better eggs to eat, no one wants to eat deviled eggs with chunks in them.
- Buy something to make the eggs look pretty. They are inexpensive, but you can really wow your guest. This is my favorite thing for making eggs look pretty.

Air Fryer, Air Fried, Classic Deviled Eggs (Devil Eggs)
- 6 eggs
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- salt and pepper to taste
- garnish with paprika
Set your eggs in a trivet or tray, anything to prevent from them flying around the air fryer.
I tried to get them not to roll, that was the hardest part of the recipe.
Set your time for 250 degrees F.
Set your time for 16 minutes.
After the time is up, use tongs and place the cooked eggs directly into cold water, this will stop the cooking process
Let sit for about 5 minutes.
Then, once cool, peel
Slice your eggs, half lengthwise. Then, remove the yolk (the yellow part) and put them in a bowl.
use a fork and mash the yellow (the yolk) then add the mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Using a spoon, scoop the yellow mixture back into the white part of the eggs. Sprinkle with paprika for a classic look.
Plate, serve and enjoy!
