Guava BBQ Sauce Recipe Tips

  • Use ripe guavas: To get the best flavor, use ripe guavas that are soft and fragrant. Use guava paste or juice instead if you can’t find fresh guavas.
  • Balance the sweetness: Guava is a sweet fruit, so it’s important to balance it with acidity and saltiness. You can add vinegar or citrus juice splash to the sauce to balance the sweetness.
  • Add other flavorings: To enhance the sauce’s flavor, add other flavorings such as garlic, ginger, onion, or spices like cumin or paprika.
  • Simmer the sauce: To thicken the sauce and help the flavors meld together, simmer the sauce over low heat for at least 15-20 minutes. This will also help to develop a deeper flavor profile.
  • Use as a marinade or glaze: Guava BBQ sauce works well as a marinade for grilled meats or as a glaze for meats cooked in the air fryer. Brush the sauce onto the meat during the last 3-5 minutes of cooking to prevent burning.
  • Store properly: Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for longer storage. Reheat the sauce before using it again, and if it’s too thick, you can thin it out with a bit of water or broth.

Storing

Store Guava BBQ Sauce in an airtight jar or container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, freeze in small portions and thaw as needed.
