Air Fryer Taco Seasoned Chickpeas Recipe Tips

  • Dry Chickpeas Thoroughly: Before seasoning, make sure your chickpeas are completely dry. Pat them with a paper towel to remove excess moisture for the crispiest results.

  • Use Fresh Taco Seasoning: For the best flavor, use a high-quality taco seasoning or make your own blend of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a touch of salt.

  • Shake the Basket: Shake the air fryer basket halfway through cooking to ensure the chickpeas cook evenly and get crispy on all sides.
  • Adjust Cooking Time: Cooking times can vary based on the air fryer model and chickpea size, so check periodically to avoid burning. The chickpeas should be golden brown and crunchy when done.

  • Cool Before Storing: Let the chickpeas cool completely before storing them in an airtight container to maintain their crunch.

Air Fryer Taco Seasoned Chickpeas Recipe Faqs

Can I use canned chickpeas for this recipe?

  • Yes, you can use canned chickpeas. Just make sure to drain and thoroughly dry them before air frying.

How do I ensure the chickpeas are crispy?

  • Ensure the chickpeas are well-dried before cooking, and shake the air fryer basket occasionally to promote even crispiness.

Can I use homemade taco seasoning?

  • Absolutely! Homemade taco seasoning can add a personal touch and allows you to adjust the spice level to your preference.

What should I do if my chickpeas are not crispy?

  • If the chickpeas aren’t crispy, they might need a bit more time in the air fryer. Continue cooking in 2-3 minute increments until they reach your desired crunchiness.

How should I store leftover chickpeas?

  • Store leftover taco-seasoned chickpeas in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. They may lose some crispiness over time but can be refreshed in the air fryer for a few minutes.

Can I use frozen chickpeas?

  • It’s best to use fresh or canned chickpeas, as frozen chickpeas can become too mushy after cooking. If you only have frozen chickpeas, thaw and dry them thoroughly before use.
