Bok choy is a leafy green vegetable quickly cooked in an air fryer. Here are some tips for cooking bok choy in an air fryer:

  1. Wash the bok choy thoroughly and pat it dry with paper towels. Cut off the ends of the bok choy and slice it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Lightly coat the bok choy pieces with cooking spray or toss them with a small amount of oil. This will help them crisp up and prevent sticking to the air fryer basket.
  3. Season the bok choy with your desired spices and seasonings. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and soy sauce are popular choices.
  4. Place the bok choy pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer. If necessary, cook the bok choy in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
  5. Cook the bk choy until the leaves are wilted and the stems are tender. You may want to shake the basket a few times during cooking to ensure even cooking.
  6. Once the bok choy is cooked, please remove it from the air fryer and serve it immediately.

Preparing Large Bok Choy

One of the most important things to do when making bok choy is to clean the leaves since you will often find some soil on them. Rinse them under cold water, and then dice them into smaller pieces.

You can either use the root or dispose of them. If you want to freeze the roots, you can often add them to soups and other stir-fry dishes.

  1. Rinse the bok choy under cool running water to remove dirt or debris. Gently pat it dry with a paper towel.
  2. Cut off the bottom of the bok choy stems with a sharp knife. The white parts can be challenging and woody, so discarding them is best.
  3. Separate the bok choy leaves from the stalks. You can do this by gently pulling the leaves away from the stem or cutting them out with a knife.
  4. If the bok choy stalks are thick, you may want to slice them in half lengthwise to help them cook more evenly. Place the stalks on a cutting board and cut them in half lengthwise with a sharp knife.
  5. Chop the bok choy into bite-sized pieces. If you’re using the leaves and stalks together, chop them into roughly the same size pieces to ensure even cooking.
  6. If you’re using bok choy in a stir-fry, you may want to separate the leaves and stalks and add them to the pan at different times, as the stalks will take longer to cook than the leaves.
