How To Make Simply Potatoes In Air Fryer
Making Simply Potatoes in an air fryer is an incredibly easy and delicious way to prepare a classic side dish. The air fryer offers a quicker, healthier alternative to traditional frying methods, giving you crispy, golden potatoes with a fluffy interior. Here’s a simple guide to making perfectly seasoned potatoes in your air fryer:
In a large bowl, mix together the potatoes, onions, bell peppers, olive oil, and seasonings, and mix well, coating the potatoes. Cook them for about 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees F, shaking frequently, during the cooking process.
Seasonings For Simply Potatoes
Seasoning simply potatoes can elevate this humble side dish into a flavorful and versatile component of any meal. The beauty of potatoes lies in their ability to absorb a wide range of flavors, making them a perfect canvas for your culinary creativity. Here’s how to season them for maximum taste:
- Olive Oil: Start with a generous drizzle of olive oil to help the seasoning stick to the potatoes and ensure they crisp up nicely in the oven or air fryer.
- Salt and Pepper: The foundation of any good seasoning mix. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper are staples that enhance the natural flavor of the potatoes.
- Garlic Powder: Adds a subtle, aromatic warmth that pairs beautifully with the earthiness of the potatoes.
- Onion Powder: Complements the garlic powder by adding depth and a slight sweetness.
- Paprika: Offers a smoky flavor and a beautiful color. You can use sweet, smoked, or hot paprika depending on your taste preference.
- Rosemary or Thyme: Fresh or dried, these herbs add a fragrant, earthy note. Rosemary is particularly robust and stands up well to roasting.
- Parmesan Cheese: A sprinkle of grated Parmesan before the final minutes of cooking adds a crispy, cheesy crust.
- Chili Powder or Cayenne Pepper: A pinch can add heat without overwhelming the potatoes’ natural flavor.
- Cumin: Offers a warm, earthy spice that pairs well with chili powder for a more southwestern flavor profile.
Pro Tips
Air frying simply potatoes can transform them into a delicious, crispy side dish with minimal effort. Here are some pro tips to ensure your air fryer potatoes turn out perfectly every time:
- Don’t Overcrowd: Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Overcrowding can steam the potatoes instead of frying them, resulting in less crispy outcomes.
- Use Oil Sparingly: While you need some oil to help the seasoning stick and achieve crispiness, too much can make the potatoes soggy. A light coating is all that’s needed.
- Shake or Turn Midway: Halfway through cooking, shake the basket or turn the potatoes with tongs to ensure they brown and crisp evenly on all sides.
- Season Well: Season the potatoes generously before cooking to ensure they are flavorful. You can adjust the seasoning to your preference, but salt, pepper, and garlic powder are good starting points.
- Finish with Fresh Herbs: Adding freshly chopped herbs like parsley, rosemary, or thyme after cooking can enhance the flavor of the potatoes without the herbs burning in the air fryer.
- Experiment with Flavors: Don’t be afraid to try different seasoning blends, from spicy Cajun to herby Italian, to find your favorite combination.
- Adjust Cooking Times for Different Cuts: The cooking time will vary depending on the size and type of your potato cut (e.g., wedges, cubes, slices). Start checking for doneness towards the lower end of the recommended cooking time.
By following these tips, you can master the art of making simply delicious potatoes in your air fryer, achieving the perfect balance of crispy exteriors and fluffy interiors every time.

These came out great, but it took me 30 minutes at 350 for the simply potatoes to fully cook crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s still a lot better than the skillet method where most of my potatoes were stuck to the pan! LOL I made chorizo and potatoe tacos and they came out delicious.
I will use this method for now on. Thank you!
