Step Two: In a large bowl, combine shredded potatoes, diced onion, salt, and black pepper. Toss until evenly mixed.

  • 6 medium russet potatoes, peeled and shredded
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
