How To Make Air Fryer Roasted Sweet Potato Jack-O-Lanterns
Step 1: Prepare the air fryer with parchment paper. Spray the parchment paper with cooking spray.
Step 2: Cut the sweet potatoes into 1⁄4 inch thick slices.
Then Step 3: Cut the slices into pumpkin shapes with a cookie cutter or a knife.
Step 4: Cut the faces on your pumpkin slices using a small knife or a cutting tool with a sharp and thin blade. Avoid knives or cutting tools with wide blades in this process. Remove the cut pieces slowly to avoid breaking the shapes and details(teeth) in your jack-o-lantern faces.
Step 5: Place your jack-o-lanterns on the parchment paper. Drizzle with oil, sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and rosemary, and toss to coat evenly.
Step 6: Put the basket or tray into the air fryer, set the temperature to 380 degrees F, and air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden. Once done, remove them from the oven and let them sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Pro Tips:
Batch: This is a great recipe that you can even double or even triple the recipe. The key would be to cook these in batches in the air fryer so they are not touching. You also want to leave plenty of space around the sweet potatoes so they cook up to perfection.
Make-Ahead: You can easily make these ahead of time for your guests, let them cool to room temperature and then place them into an airtight container. They will last for about 2 to 3 days. When you want to reheat them, put them back into the air fryer, spray with cooking spray and cook for a couple of minutes until they are warmed through.
Flipping: Depending on what air fryer you are using, you might need to flip them halfway during the cooking process so both sides get golden brown.
Making These In An Air Fryer Oven: If you are making these in an air fryer oven, put the rack or shelf on the bottom level. This will allow enough time for both the top and inside to cook up simultaneously.
FAQ’s:
How do I make them pumpkin-shaped?
Today, I used a small cookie cutter found on Amazon. I would highly recommend using a metal cookie cutter, as they are easier to cut than plastic ones. Some that I recommend are: Pumpkin Cookie Cutter, 4″ Made in the USA by Ann Clark Cookie Cutters, and Large Halloween Cookie Cutters, 6 Pcs Metal Cookie Cutters Shapes Set, Pumpkin, Cat, Candy, Ghost, Bat
.Can I make these in the oven?
Yes, if you want to make these in the oven, prepare as directed in the recipe below, place them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, put them inside preheated 400 degrees F oven, and bake for 45 minutes, or until golden. Once done, remove them from the oven and let them sit for 5 minutes before serving.
