How To Make Air Fryer Guava Chicken

Step One: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
Step Two: Whisk honey and olive oil together until smooth. Toss chicken chunks in a large bowl with the honey-olive oil mixture, then season with paprika, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

Step Three: Lightly coat the air fryer basket with nonstick spray and arrange the chicken chunks inside. Cook for 5 minutes, then toss the chicken in guava sauce and return to the air fryer for an additional 4-7 minutes until cooked through and caramelized.

Step Four: Garnish with fresh cilantro, and enjoy!

Air Fryer Guava Chicken Recipe Tips
- Cut chicken evenly: Similar-sized pieces cook at the same speed and stay juicy.
- Preheat the air fryer: Helps the chicken sear quickly instead of steaming.
- Don’t skip the oil and honey mix: It helps the seasoning stick and promotes caramelization.
- Add guava sauce halfway through: Prevents burning while still giving you that sticky glaze.
- Shake or toss the basket: Ensures even cooking and glaze coverage on all sides.
- Check doneness early: Chicken is ready when it reaches 165°F and looks glossy.
Storing Instructions
- Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days.
- Freezer: Freeze cooled guava chicken in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.
- Reheating: Warm in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–5 minutes to bring back the glaze and texture.
- Microwave option: Heat gently in short intervals to avoid drying out the chicken.

Easy Air Fryer Guava Chicken Recipe Faqs
Can I use chicken thighs instead of breasts? Yes, boneless skinless chicken thighs work great and turn out extra juicy. Just add 1–2 minutes of cook time if needed.
Do I need to marinate the chicken first? No marinating is required. The honey, oil, and seasoning coat adds plenty of flavor while cooking.
What type of guava sauce should I use? A smooth guava sauce or guava paste thinned with water works best for even coating and glazing.
How do I know when the chicken is done? The chicken is fully cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and is no longer pink inside.
Can I make this recipe less sweet? Yes, reduce the honey slightly or add a squeeze of lime juice to balance the sweetness.
Is this recipe spicy? It has a mild kick from red pepper flakes, but you can easily adjust or omit them.
Can I double the recipe? Yes, but cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer for even cooking.
