How To Make Easy Air Fryer Turkey Meatloaf

Cooking diced onions, mushrooms, and garlic in olive oil until soft and fragrant in a skillet.

Step One: Dice the onions, mushrooms, and garlic. Heat olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 5 minutes. Then add the mushrooms, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5 to 8 minutes, until the mushrooms are soft.

Step Two: Transfer the cooked vegetable mixture to a bowl and stir in the sage. In a separate bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk, mixing well. Add the eggs and mix again until combined. Fold in the ground turkey, then mix in the sautéed vegetables until everything is evenly combined.

Step Three: Press the meat mixture firmly into a small loaf pan. In another bowl, mix together ketchup and Worcestershire sauce to make the topping. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F for 5 minutes. Place the loaf pan inside and cook for 20–30 minutes, checking the internal temperature regularly. The meatloaf is done when it reaches 170°F, but cooking time may vary depending on loaf thickness, pan size, and your air fryer model.

Easy Air Fryer Turkey Meatloaf Recipe Tips

  • Don’t overmix – Gently fold the ingredients together to keep the meatloaf tender, not dense.
  • Use a loaf pan – A small loaf pan helps the meatloaf cook evenly and hold its shape in the air fryer.
  • Check internal temperature – Use a meat thermometer to ensure the center reaches 170°F for food safety.
  • Let it rest – After air frying, rest the meatloaf for 5–10 minutes before slicing to retain juices.
  • Add the glaze at the end – For a perfectly caramelized top, spread on the ketchup-Worcestershire glaze during the last few minutes of cooking.

Storing, Freezing & Reheating Instructions

  • Storing: Store leftover turkey meatloaf in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Let it cool completely before refrigerating to maintain texture and flavor.
  • Freezing: Wrap individual slices or the entire cooled loaf tightly in plastic wrap and foil, then freeze for up to 3 months. Label with the date to keep track of freshness.
  • Reheating: Reheat slices in the air fryer at 350°F for 4–6 minutes or in the microwave for 1–2 minutes until heated through. If frozen, thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

What To Serve With Air-Fried Turkey Meatloaf

Easy Air Fryer Turkey Meatloaf pairs perfectly with a variety of comforting sides. Classic mashed potatoes or garlic-roasted baby potatoes make a hearty base, while steamed green beans, sautéed spinach, or honey-glazed carrots bring a fresh and colorful balance.

For something lighter, a crisp garden salad or roasted Brussels sprouts adds great contrast to the savory meatloaf. Don’t forget a slice of warm cornbread or a dinner roll to round out the meal!

Air Fryer Easy Turkey Meatloaf Recipe Faqs

Can I use ground chicken instead of turkey? Yes, ground chicken works well as a substitute and will yield similar results in texture and flavor.

Do I need to use a loaf pan in the air fryer? Using a loaf pan helps the meatloaf hold its shape, but you can also shape the loaf by hand on parchment if your air fryer has room.

How do I know when turkey meatloaf is done? Use a meat thermometer—it’s done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F, and the juices run clear.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time? Yes, you can prep the meatloaf mixture a day ahead and store it covered in the fridge until you’re ready to air fry.

What toppings can I use besides ketchup? Try BBQ sauce, tomato paste mixed with spices, or even a tangy mustard glaze for a twist.
