How To Make Air Fryer Small Batch Brownies

Melting butter, sugar, and cocoa powder in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth chocolate mixture forms.

Step 1: Add the butter, sugar, and cocoa powder to a medium microwave-safe mixing bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each round, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.

Step 2: Mix in the salt, vanilla extract, and egg, stirring until everything is fully combined and smooth. Add the flour and mix well until the batter is evenly blended, then spray your brownie pan with non-stick cooking spray or olive oil spray.

Mixing salt, vanilla extract, egg, and flour into brownie batter until smooth, then spraying pan with non-stick or olive oil spray before baking.

Step 3: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly so it’s level. Air fry at 320°F for 12–16 minutes, then let the brownies cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Small Batch Air Fryer Brownies Recipe Tips

  • Don’t overmix the batter: Stir just until the flour disappears. Overmixing makes brownies tough instead of fudgy.
  • Melt the butter fully with sugar and cocoa: This step helps create that shiny, crackly top everyone loves.
  • Watch the cook time closely: Air fryers run hot and vary a lot. Start checking at 10–12 minutes.
  • Use the right pan size: A small, air fryer-safe pan helps the brownies cook evenly without overbaking the edges.
  • Don’t skip cooling time: Letting them rest helps the brownies set so you get clean, fudgy slices.
  • Check with a toothpick carefully: Look for moist crumbs, not wet batter, for the perfect gooey center.
  • Avoid overfilling the pan: Keep the batter level so it bakes evenly from edge to center.
  • Serve slightly warm for best texture: A warm brownie straight from the air fryer hits different—soft, gooey, and rich.

Storing, Freezing and Reheating Instructions

  • Storing Instructions: Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer freshness, refrigerate them for up to 5 days.
  • Freezing Instructions: Wrap brownies tightly in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. Freeze for up to 2 months for best texture and flavor.
  • Reheating Instructions: Warm brownies in the air fryer at 300°F for 2–3 minutes until soft and gooey. You can also microwave for 10–15 seconds for a quick melty bite.

Small Batch Air Fryer Brownies Recipe Faqs

Can I double this recipe? Yes, you can double it, but you may need to cook in batches depending on your air fryer size. Avoid overcrowding the pan so they bake evenly.

Why are my brownies dry? They were likely overbaked. Pull them out when the center still has moist crumbs for that fudgy texture.

Can I use a different pan? Yes, any small air fryer-safe pan works as long as it fits properly and allows even airflow.

How do I know when brownies are done? The edges should look set and a toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs, not wet batter.

Can I use Dutch-process cocoa instead of regular cocoa? Yes, it will give a richer, deeper chocolate flavor.

Do I have to let them cool before cutting? Yes, cooling helps them set so you get clean, fudgy squares instead of crumbly pieces.

Can I add mix-ins? Absolutely. Chocolate chips, nuts, or caramel bits all work great in this small batch recipe.
