How To Cook Pancakes On Ninja Woodfire Grill

Separating egg yolks from whites and whipping egg whites to stiff peaks for pancake batter

Step One: Add a scoop of food-grade wood pellets into the wood pellet burner of your Ninja Woodfire Grill.

Step Two: Turn on the grill and select the Grill setting. If using wood pellets, press the Woodfire Flavor Technology button. Set the heat to Low and allow the grill to preheat. Wait until the display says “Add Food” before placing anything on the grill.

Mixing dry ingredients, adding wet ingredients, folding in egg whites, and resting pancake batter

Step Three: While the grill preheats, separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Place egg whites in a stand mixer or mixing bowl. Beat egg whites with a whisk attachment or hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

Step Four: In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Gradually stir in the oil and milk until smooth. Add the egg yolks and chocolate chips to the batter. Gently fold in the beaten egg whites. Do not overmix—fold until no white streaks remain. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.

Flip and cook the other side until golden and fully cooked through. Remove from grill, serve hot with your favorite toppings, and enjoy your smoky, fluffy stack!

    Ninja Woodfire Pancakes Recipe Tips

    • Choose the Right Wood Pellets: Use food-grade wood pellets like maple, hickory, or applewood for a smoky flavor that complements, not overpowers, your pancakes.
    • Preheat Properly: Always let the Ninja Woodfire Grill fully preheat to ensure even cooking and a golden-brown finish.
    • Keep Pancake Batter Thick: Make sure the batter is slightly thicker than normal, so it holds its shape on the grill and doesn’t spread too thin.
    • Don’t Overmix the Batter: Gently fold in the egg whites to avoid deflating air pockets, keeping pancakes light and fluffy.
    • Use a Griddle Attachment: For even cooking and easy flipping, use the Ninja griddle attachment or a non-stick grill mat.
    • Monitor Heat Settings: Set the grill to Low heat. High heat can cause burning on the outside while leaving the inside undercooked.
    • Let Batter Rest: Allow the batter to rest for 10 minutes to help achieve a fluffier texture.
    • Flip at the Right Time: Flip the pancakes when bubbles form and edges are set to ensure even cooking.
    • Experiment with Toppings: Get creative with toppings like fresh berries, syrup, whipped cream, or powdered sugar for extra flavor and fun!

    Storing

    • Storing: Once your Ninja Woodfire Pancakes have cooled, stack them in an airtight container, separating each layer with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days for the freshest taste.
    • Freezing: To freeze, place the pancakes in a single layer on a baking sheet to prevent them from sticking, then transfer to an airtight container or freezer bag once frozen. They’ll stay fresh for up to 2 months in the freezer.
    • Reheating: For the best results, reheat pancakes in the Ninja Woodfire Grill on low heat for a few minutes until heated through, or use a toaster to restore their crisp edges. Microwaving for 20-30 seconds is the quickest option but may make them softer.
