This is my son’s favorite drink at Starbucks. Made with mocha and full of chocolate and coffee, this is a great and easy recipe to make at home. And it’s delicious.

When summer comes and school is out, we often go to Starbucks; while it’s a great outing with my kid, it gets expensive quickly. So, a homemade copycat version is in order.

What Is A Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino?

Pulled off the Starbucks menu, it’s a blend of mocha sauce and chips with coffee, milk, and ice. Then served over ice and with whipped cream and a mocha drizzle.

It is made with Frappuccino Chips, which I didn’t know, but after some research, I found that Frappuccino Chips are just java chips.

What Is The Best Coffee For Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino?

I usually recommend coffee brands to my friends, as I love a great cup of coffee, but you need to use a bold coffee for this drink or espresso.

Here are some of my favorites (affiliate links included)

Some Pro Tips For Making The Best Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino

  • Use a great coffee. Just like Starbucks, you need to start with a great brew. If you do not like the coffee as is, don’t use it.
  • Pour the Frappuccino into a cold glass. I usually put mine in the freezer for a couple of minutes.
  • Garnish it; some fantastic ideas are chocolate swirls, whipped chocolate cream, etc. (my kids love it with a cherry)
