Instant Pot Cherry Jam — This is an excellent recipe for those that want to make their jam but don’t have time or patience to wait. The Instant Pot can do it in minutes, from start to finish!

Instant Pot Cherry Jam

Today’s it’s all about Sour Cherry Jam (or preserves), my kids love this recipe. They can not get enough of it, it’s not only good as a jam, but it’s REALLY good over ice cream. One of the reasons, I started to can, many moons ago, is my oldest son has allergies, so  I don’t use pectin in our house.

I have been making and canning preserves for about 15 years, and this is the EASIEST way, I have found.

I have been working on using my Instant Pot, for about 6 months. Some people, say I have an obsession, I only own 4. So, I think it not really an obsession yet. I have a number of amazing recipes, that I have been sharing on my blog

If you love making homemade Instant Pot Jams, some of my favorite recipes are INSTANT POT PUMPKIN BUTTER, INSTANT POT STRAWBERRY JAM, NINJA FOODI EASY RASPBERRY JAM, and INSTANT POT CREAM CHEESE.

What Is Cherry Jam?

For a long time I had no idea what was cherry jam. But now that I do, it’s my favorite! Cherry Jam is delicious and sweet because it has plenty of sugar in the recipe. There are many different ways to make this homemade dish including making it with fresh or frozen cherries as well as canned cherries.

You can even use honey instead of sugar for a healthier option! The preparation process also includes peeling and slicing the fruit if needed before cooking, but you’ll want to be sure to cook it down until its thick and spreadable like jam (hence the name!). And don’t forget about adding lemon juice or other flavorings like cinnamon, allspice, cloves, ginger root powder, cardamom pods…

How To Make Instant Pot Cherry Jam

Instant Pot Cherry Jam

Add half the package of cherries to your Instant Pot, along with the sugar and lemon juice. Then add your lid, making sure it’s in the sealed position. Then using a manual high-pressure setting set the time for 3 minutes.

When the timer beeps, do a natural release. Then open up the lid, stir the mixture, saute the mixture and then stir in the rest of the cherries and vanilla.
You can either serve it hot, over pancakes (which is delicious), or refrigerate it until ready to serve. It will last about 2 weeks in an airtight container.

Can I Use Fresh Cherries For Instant Pot Cherry Jam

Yes, substitute teh frozen cherries for fresh cherries. Use about 1 pound of fresh cherries, remove the pit, and dicely chop them.

Then add them to the Instant pot and saute, for a couple of minutes, until they are softened. then follow the direction in the recipe below.

Can I Double or Triple The Cherry Jam Recipe

You can. But please don’t let your Instant Pot go over the fill line! Cook for as long as directed below. The cooking time will remain the same.

How to Store Cherry Jam

Place the cherry jam into the refrigerator, where it will last for 1 to 2 weeks in an airtight container.

Can You Freeze Cherry Jam

Is your summer jam going in full swing? If so, you might be wondering if you can freeze cherry jam.

For best results, fill freezer containers about two-thirds of the way with preserve or jam – leaving some space for expansion as it freezes. Cherry jam will last between 1 to 2 months.

Ways to Serve Cherry Jam

My absolute favorite is over ice cream, is there anything better? SOme other great ideas are:

  • Over Pancakes, waffles,etc.
  • Over Bagels, toast, or even an English Muffins.
  • On Scones, Muffins or other baked goods.
  • Over a cheesecake
