Pro Tips for Success

  • Use sweet or yellow onions for best flavor and size.
  • Double-dip in batter for an extra thick coating like Arby’s.
  • Don’t overcrowd your fryer—it lowers the oil temp and leads to soggy rings.
  • For a spicy twist, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to your batter.
  • Panko is key to that steakhouse-style crunch—don’t skip it!

Storing & Reheating

Store: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat: Pop them in the air fryer at 375°F for 4–5 minutes to get them crispy again.

FAQs

Can I make these ahead of time? You can prep the rings and refrigerate them for a few hours before frying. Fry just before serving for best crunch.

Can I freeze the onion rings? Yes! Freeze after battering. When ready, fry from frozen or air fry at 400°F until crispy.

What’s the best oil for frying? Vegetable, peanut, or canola oil all work well—just use one with a high smoke point.

Can I make them gluten-free? Swap flour for a gluten-free blend and use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
