When making cookies, whether they are for an event or just a quick snack, one question always arises: how do I decorate them? Well, we’re here to help! Today, I will show you some of the best ways to decorate your cookies.

We’ll cover everything from frosting and icing to sprinkles and candy. So grab your favorite cookies after they have cooled down, and start decorating!

Frosting: You can either make homemade frosting, royal icing, buttercream frosting, or even my favorite recipe for cream cheese frosting. My favorite store-bought icing is vanilla icing by Pillsbury.

Decorations: You can add any sprinkles you want. I love a great red, white, and pink sprinkle variety. You can also use baking sugar in traditional Valentine’s Day colors!

How To Store:

What’s the best way to store sugar cookies? That is one question that many cooks ask but do not know the answer to. If you want to make these ahead of time, the best way to store sugar cookies, so they stay fresh and crispy:

  • Use a Cookie Jar with a tight seal to keep air out.
  • Freeze them in an airtight container or plastic freezer bag.

How To Freeze These Cookies:

These cookies freeze nicely too! Just let the cookies come to room temperature, then pack them in a ziplock bag (or freezer bag) and store them for future use.

When you’re ready (or need), take one out of storage at your convenience- either by warming it up on the kitchen countertop or placing them into the refrigerator overnight.
