What are Sloppy Joes? You might be wondering what in the world that could be. Well, it’s a pretty simple dish – a sandwich filling made from ground beef, onions, and tomato sauce, usually served on a hamburger bun. But despite its simplicity, Sloppy Joes can be delicious – especially when you make them at home yourself. What Is Manwich?
Manwich is a canned sauce made by Hunt’s, a subsidiary of ConAgra Foods, Inc. It is made from ground beef, tomato sauce, and spices. It was introduced in 1937 by the David Butternut Company, later acquired by the H.J. Heinz Company. Manwich is now sold in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It is available in three versions: Original, Thick & Chunky with steakburger chunks (added in 1997), and Sloppy Joe mix (added in 2006).
This makes for a great filling and a great way to make these perfect Air Fryer Sloppy Joe Cups that make for a beautiful and kid-friendly lunch or dinner!

How To Make Air Fryer Sloppy Joe Cups
Start by spraying your air muffin tin with cooking spray. Then add your biscuit dough, being careful to press the dough into the sides so that you create a cup. Place your muffin tin into the air fryer basket and set the temperature to 320 degrees F, air fryer setting, and cook for about 5 to 8 minutes, until they are golden brown.
In a medium-sized saucepan, add your ground beef and diced onions. Saute until your meat is fully cooked, add in your Sloppy Joe Sauce, and cook until the mixture is hot about 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat, and add about 1/4 cup to the biscuit cup. Add about 1 to 2 teaspoons of shredded cheese on top, and return the cups to the air fryer, and air fry at 1 to 2 minutes at 250 degrees F, air fryer setting, until the cheese is fully melted.
Tips:
Biscuits: For best results, use refrigerated biscuits for this recipe to fill the biscuit cup. You can make the filling and then fill the cup, but I have found that the cup will not cook on the bottom: So, for best results and a great snack, bake the cups separately.
Filling: You can use either Original Manwich or Thick and Chunky. Either will work. You can also make these with canned or homemade chili. The recipe will remain the same. That would be an excellent option for gameday.
Cheese: You can either use shredded cheddar cheese or even Velveeta Cheese. Either will melt amazingly. I love to use Velveeta if I change the recipe to chili. It’s a great cheesy taste.
