How To Make Air Fryer Puff Pastry Pizza

Thawed puff pastry sheet being rolled out on parchment paper, with an air fryer preheating in the background.

Step One: Let your puff pastry sheet thaw at room temperature for 30-40 minutes. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F and line the basket with parchment paper. Roll out the puff pastry to fit your air fryer and smooth out any creases as needed.

Puff pastry sheet with a scored border and brushed with oil, placed in an air fryer basket ready to cook.

Step Two: Using the tip of a knife, gently score a ½-inch border around the edges of the puff pastry—being careful not to cut all the way through. Lightly brush the surface with oil and place the pastry in the air fryer basket. Set cook time for 7-10 minutes, or until the crust is puffed and golden brown.

Sliced vegetables prepared in bowls next to a puffed-up pastry crust with pizza sauce being spread inside the border.

Step Three: Wash and slice your vegetable toppings, then set them aside. Once the puff pastry is done air frying and has puffed up, carefully spread the pizza sauce evenly inside the scored border.

Step Four: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add your sliced veggie toppings. Place the pizza back in the air fryer and set cook time for 5-8 minutes. Be careful not to overload it with toppings, as that can make the crust soggy. Once it’s crisp and golden, remove from the air fryer, garnish with fresh basil, and serve warm!

🍕 Air Fryer Puff Pastry Pizza Recipe Tips

🧊 Thaw puff pastry properly – Let it sit at room temp for 30–40 minutes to avoid cracking.
🔪 Score the edges – Lightly scoring a border helps create a crisp, raised crust.
🌪️ Don’t overload with toppings – Too many can make the pastry soggy.
🧀 Pre-cook moisture-heavy toppings – Like mushrooms or spinach to prevent excess moisture.
🌿 Add fresh herbs after cooking – Basil or arugula adds flavor and freshness without wilting.

Storing

  • 🧊 Storing: Place leftover puff pastry pizza in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. 🍕 Keep layers separated with parchment paper to maintain crispness.
  • ❄️ Freezing: Freeze fully cooked and cooled slices on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag. 🧊 Reheat straight from frozen for a quick meal or snack.
  • 🔥 Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–5 minutes until hot and crispy. 🌪️ Avoid the microwave to keep the crust from getting soggy.

Air Fryer Puff Pastry Pizza Recipe Faqs

Can I use frozen puff pastry? Yes! Just make sure to thaw it at room temperature for 30–40 minutes before using.

What toppings work best? Stick with light toppings like shredded cheese, thin-sliced veggies, or pre-cooked meats to keep the crust from getting soggy.

Can I make these ahead of time? You can prep the pizzas in advance and refrigerate them, but for best texture, air fry them just before serving.

How do I keep the puff pastry from puffing too much? Scoring a border and lightly pricking the center with a fork will help it puff evenly and hold toppings better.

Do I need to pre-bake the crust? Yes, a quick pre-bake helps the pastry crisp up and prevents a soggy base once the toppings are added.

Description

Air Fryer Puff Pastry Pizza is a quick and tasty way to enjoy homemade pizza with a light, flaky crust. Topped with sauce, cheese, and your favorite veggies, it cooks to golden perfection in just minutes. Perfect for a fast lunch, appetizer, or fun family dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup spinach leaves
  • 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onions, sliced
  • 1/8 cup fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  • Thaw your puff pastry sheet for about 30 to 40 minutes at room temperature—Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F and line the basket or with parchment paper. Roll the puff pastry sheet to the desired length, and flatten out the creases depending on how large your air fryer is. I rolled mine at about 10×14. (Using an Instant Pot Omni Air Fryer)
  • Use the tip of a knife to score a border about ½ inch from the edge of the puff pastry sheet. Be careful not to cut all the way through. Lightly brush the entire pastry sheet with oil and transfer it to the sheet pan—Air Fry for 7 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Wash and slice your vegetable toppings. Set aside. Once the puff pastry is done air frying, it will be puffed up. Spread the pizza sauce and spread it evenly within the border.
  • Top with mozzarella cheese and veggie toppings, then put it in the air fryer for 5 to 8 minutes. Remember not to overcrowd or add too many toppings. Doing so can result in a soggy puff pastry pizza.
  • Once out of the air fryer, garnish with fresh basil leaves and enjoy fresh!
