What Are Chicken Legs or Drumsticks?

Chicken legs or drumsticks are the meaty part of a chicken’s leg. They can be cooked in an air fryer with spices, marinades, and sauces for a delicious family meal. Despite their name, they don’t come from the animal’s backside!

A whole chicken usually has two drumsticks and 2 thighs attached to it along with wings that are typically removed before cooking; these parts make up what is referred to as “the dark meat” because they have more fat than the breast meat; which is considered “white.” Drumsticks are found at either end of the bird, and each one has its own joint where it connects to the thigh bone.

The air fryer is a great place to cook up Chicken Legs or Drumsticks, and you get the same slow-roasted flavor that you would get and in a fraction of the time.

Tips For Making Chicken Legs In The Air Fryer

  • This recipe has been prepared in many different air fryers, including Air Fryer baskets and Oven Models. It has also been prepared in the Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Vortex, Instant Pot Crisp Lid, and Mleahty Lid. The recipe will remain the same, and the cooking time will vary.
  • For best results, use a meat thermometer. Check the thickest part of the Chicken Leg with a meat thermometer, and the internal temperature should be 165 degrees F.
  • Let your chicken drumsticks rest, for about 4 to 8 minutes, after taking them out. This way, the juices settle to the middle of the chicken leg/drumstick. Creating a juicy and tender piece of meat.

Variations:

Peanut Butter:

For best results, use creamy peanut butter. But since nut allergies are very common, I wanted to give you a few substitutions.

You can use nut-free peanut butter, such as WowButter, Natural SunButter, or Granola Butter.

Coconut Milk:

Some great alternatives would be regular milk, almond milk, or even Lactose-Free Milk. The recipe will work the same.

Keep the cooked pieces in an airtight container or bag with a paper towel inside to soak up excess oil. Chicken can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days and frozen for 3 months.

How To Reheat Air Fryer Chicken Legs:

Air fryers are a great way to cook and reheat food. If you have never tried cooking with an air fryer before, this is the perfect recipe for you. It’s quick and easy, all while being healthy!

Cooking chicken legs in an air fryer will not only make them healthier by reducing fat, but they also come out juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. These chicken legs are so delicious that it makes them hard to resist wanting more of these tasty little treats!

There are many ways to reheat chicken legs, but the most delicious way is by using an air fryer. Air frying is a healthier cooking method that uses less oil and cooks faster than traditional frying. The best part about it is there’s no need for any butter or seasoning because the air fryer will do all the work for you! To start, preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes, then put in your chicken legs (you can also use this technique with other meats). After 10 minutes of cooking time, take out your food and enjoy!
