This is one of my favorites if you want a great, easy appetizer or snack. My kids and family absolutely loved this recipe! It was so good and easy!

I lightly coated it with an egg wash, tossed it into a batch of bread crumbs, then frozen it, and then repeated the wash and bread crumbs, so it would be amazing when it hit the air fryer.

Fried goat cheese balls air fryer recipe tips

  • Chill the Cheese: Before shaping the goat cheese into balls, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Use Parchment Paper: To prevent sticking, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper.
  • Adjust the Cooking Time: Cooking times may vary based on your air fryer model. Start with 5-7 minutes and check for a golden brown color.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Basket: For even cooking, arrange the goat cheese balls in a single layer without overcrowding the air fryer basket.
  • Use Cooking Spray: Lightly spray the goat cheese balls with cooking oil before air frying to help achieve a crispy, golden exterior.
  • Experiment with Coatings: Feel free to customize the breading by mixing in herbs, spices, or even crushed nuts for added flavor and texture.
  • Serve Immediately: Fried goat cheese balls are best enjoyed hot and fresh. Serve them with marinara sauce or a balsamic reduction for a delicious dipping option.
  • Keep Leftovers: If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in the air fryer to regain their crispy texture.

Air Fryer Fried Goat Cheese Recipe Faqs

Can I use a different type of cheese? Yes! While goat cheese is traditional for this recipe, you can experiment with other cheeses like mozzarella or feta. Just keep in mind that the texture and flavor will vary.

Can I make these cheese balls in advance? Absolutely! You can shape the cheese balls and refrigerate them for a few hours or overnight before air frying. This helps them maintain their shape during cooking.

What should I serve with fried goat cheese balls? These cheese balls pair wonderfully with marinara sauce, honey, balsamic glaze, or a fresh salad. They also make a great addition to a charcuterie board.

Can I freeze the goat cheese balls? Yes! You can freeze the uncoated cheese balls. Place them on a baking sheet to freeze individually, then transfer them to an airtight container. When ready to cook, you can fry them straight from the freezer, but add a few extra minutes to the cooking time.

Why are my cheese balls falling apart in the air fryer? This may happen if the cheese isn’t chilled enough before shaping or cooking. Ensure the cheese is firm and well-coated in breadcrumbs for better adhesion.

How do I store leftovers? Store any leftover fried goat cheese balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore their crispy texture.

Can I make these gluten-free? Yes! Use gluten-free breadcrumbs to make the recipe suitable for gluten-free diets.

How long should I air fry the goat cheese balls? Air fry the goat cheese balls for about 5-7 minutes at 370°F (190°C), or until golden brown and crispy. Cooking times may vary based on your air fryer model, so keep an eye on them!
