I love making a great and healthy snack for my family in the Air Fryer, and this one is no different. Today I surprised my kids with a hearty after-school snack with Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Granola.
I have been making granola for a while and recently have fallen in love with making them in the air fryer. If you like them nice and super crunchy, make sure it is golden when you take them out of the air fryer.
If you have never made granola before, this is a great and easy recipe to start with. And with either packing it away for a camping trip, a camp for the kids, or even as a lunch-box treat, this will soon become one of your favorite things to make in the Air Fryer.

Easy Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Granola
Granola is one of those superfoods that can be served either as a healthy breakfast or a healthy snack option.
Granola is usually prepared with rolled oats, honey, nuts, and brown sugar, and today, I added some chocolate chips and chia seeds for a great batch.
Typically, granola is baked, but with my air fryer, you can make this anytime, especially during the summer, and your kitchen will not get hot! And of course, if you are traveling this summer and you are bringing your Air Fryer with you, this is a great and fun meal to prepare!
Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Granola
Here are the step-by-step instructions for making this easy recipe:
- Chocolate Chips: Add a delightful touch of sweetness with rich, creamy chocolate chips.
- Chopped Pecans: Chopped pecans provide a crunchy texture and nutty flavor to the granola.
- Chia Seeds: Chia seeds contribute a boost of nutrients and a subtle, slightly nutty taste.
- Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the overall flavors and balances the sweetness of the granola.
- Old-Fashioned Oats: Old-fashioned oats form the hearty base of the granola, giving it a chewy texture.
- Maple Syrup: Maple syrup serves as a natural sweetener and adds a touch of caramel-like flavor.
- Olive Oil: Olive oil helps to crisp up the granola and adds a mild, fruity note.
- Pure Vanilla Extract: Pure vanilla extract infuses the granola with a warm, aromatic essence.
How To Make Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Granola
Here are the step-by-step instructions:
Prepare Pan: Line a 6-inch cake pan with parchment paper and set aside.
Mix Wet Ingredients and Dry Ingredients: Mix all your dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl: chocolate chip, pecans, chia seeds, salt, and old-fashioned oats. Mix well until you have an even distribution of all ingredients. Add oil, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix well until all dry ingredients are coated.
*NOTE* For this step, I like to use a fork as it is easier to coat all oats.
Prepare The Mixture: Once all coated, pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan. Push down with a fork so nice and compacted. *NOTE* If you don’t have a pan that fits your air fryer, you can put the mixture into the basket and cook it that way.
Prepare Pan: Make sure it is completely cool when you take it out of the basket. I put about one teaspoon of vegetable oil into a paper towel and rub it down the basket if you do so. It will make it easier when you take the granola out.
Air Fry: Cook on manual at 320 degrees F, set cook time for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Once it is done nice and golden, take the pan out of the air fryer basket and let it cool completely. Once cool, break into pieces and keep in an airtight container.
Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Granola Recipe Tips
- Use Parchment Paper: Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Stir Frequently: Shake or stir the granola every few minutes to ensure it cooks evenly and doesn’t burn.
- Monitor Closely: Keep an eye on the granola as it cooks, as it can quickly go from perfectly toasted to burnt.
- Cool Completely: Allow the granola to cool completely before storing to maintain its crispiness and prevent it from becoming soggy.
- Adjust Sweetness: Feel free to adjust the amount of chocolate chips or maple syrup based on your taste preferences.
- Store Properly: Store the granola in an airtight container to keep it fresh and crunchy for longer.
Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Granola Recipe Faqs
Can I use other types of nuts in this recipe? Yes, you can substitute chopped nuts like almonds or walnuts for pecans, based on your preference.
Can I use instant oats instead of old-fashioned oats? Old-fashioned oats work best for a crispier texture, but instant oats can be used if needed, though they may result in a softer granola.
How do I prevent the chocolate chips from melting too much? Add chocolate chips during the last few minutes of cooking or after the granola has finished cooking to avoid excessive melting.
Can I make this granola without maple syrup? You can substitute maple syrup with honey or agave syrup, though it may slightly alter the flavor and texture.
How long does this granola stay fresh? When stored in an airtight container, the granola stays fresh and crunchy for up to two weeks.
Can I make a larger batch? Yes, but make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary to ensure even cooking.
7. Can I add dried fruit to this recipe?
Yes, dried fruits like cranberries or raisins can be mixed in after the granola has finished cooking and cooled.
