Air Fryer Gingerbread Donuts Recipe Tips

  • Use Fresh Spices: For the best flavor, use freshly ground ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Fresh spices make a noticeable difference in the taste of gingerbread.

  • Preheat Your Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer for a few minutes before adding the donuts to ensure even cooking and a crisp exterior.

  • Don’t Overmix the Batter: Mix the ingredients until just combined to avoid tough donuts. Overmixing can lead to a denser texture.

  • Use a Donut Pan: For uniform donuts, use a silicone or metal donut pan that fits in your air fryer basket.

  • Lightly Grease the Pan: Even if using a non-stick pan, lightly grease it to ensure the donuts come out easily.

  • Check Donut Size: Keep the donut batter evenly portioned. If they’re too thick, they may not cook through properly.

  • Adjust Cooking Time: Air fryers vary in temperature. Start with the recommended time, but check the donuts a few minutes before they’re done to prevent overcooking.

  • Let Donuts Cool: Allow the donuts to cool slightly before glazing. This helps the glaze adhere better and avoids it melting off.

  • Glaze While Warm: For the best results, glaze the donuts while they are still slightly warm, so the glaze sticks better.

  • Experiment with Toppings: Try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar or crushed nuts on top of the glaze for extra flavor and texture.
