If your freezer is half Trader Joe’s, your air fryer is about to become the most used appliance in your kitchen. Nearly everything in the TJ’s frozen aisle cooks better in the air fryer than it does in the oven: faster, crispier, and with no sheet pan to wash. These are the Trader Joe’s air fryer recipes I make on repeat, each with the exact temperature and cook time so you never have to guess.

I’ve been testing Trader Joe’s products in the air fryer for years, and the rule of thumb is simple: skip the box directions, drop the oven temperature by about 25 degrees, and cut the time roughly in half. The recipes below take the guesswork out completely.

Trader Joe’s Air Fryer Dinners

Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken

Crispy Trader Joe's Mandarin Orange Chicken in the air fryer basket tossed in orange sauce

The most popular item at Trader Joe’s is also the one that benefits most from the air fryer. The breading gets shatteringly crisp in about 10 minutes, half the time the bag calls for, and it tastes far closer to takeout than the oven version ever does. Thaw the sauce pouch in a bowl of hot water while the chicken cooks.

Air fryer: 400°F, 10 minutes

Air Fryer manicotti

Easy air fryer manicotti stuffed with cheesy ricotta filling and topped with marinara and melted mozzarella

Stock up on Trader Joe’s manicotti shells, whole milk ricotta and a jar of their marinara and you have everything you need for a cheesy Italian dinner that bakes in a fraction of the oven time. The air fryer gets the tops of the shells lightly crisp while the filling stays creamy underneath, and it’s a great one to prep ahead and cook when everyone gets home.

How to Cook Trader Joe’s Potstickers in the Air Fryer

Crispy golden Trader Joe's potstickers in the air fryer basket with dipping sauce

Trader Joe’s potstickers are one of the best values in the freezer, and the air fryer gives them the crunchy bottoms of pan-frying without standing over a skillet. A light spray of oil helps them brown. Serve with soy sauce and a little chili crisp.

Air fryer: 370°F, 8–10 minutes, flip halfway

Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Hot and Spicy Chicken Wings

Trader Joe's hot and spicy chicken wings cooked crispy in the air fryer

These come pre-seasoned, so all the air fryer has to do is render the skin and crisp them up. They’re my go-to game day appetizer when I don’t want to make wings from scratch. Let them rest a minute before serving so the juices settle.

Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Bread Cheese

Slices of Trader Joe's bread cheese with golden crispy edges after air frying

Bread cheese is a squeaky, grillable Finnish-style cheese that turns golden and crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. It’s a one-ingredient appetizer that looks fancy. Serve it with honey, jam or marinara.

Trader Joe’s Air Fryer Sides

Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer

Crispy Trader Joe's frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer basket

Sweet potato fries are notoriously hard to get crispy in the oven. In the air fryer they come out with crunchy edges and soft centers with no added oil. Don’t overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if you need to.

Trader Joe’s Air Fryer Breakfast

Trader Joe’s Hash Browns in the Air Fryer

Trader Joe's Hash Browns in Air Fryer (Crispy McDonald's-Style in 10 Minutes!)

Trader Joe’s hash brown patties are famous for a reason, and the air fryer turns them into something very close to a McDonald’s hash brown: crunchy outside, fluffy inside, in 10 minutes. Always preheat the basket so the bottom starts crisping immediately. They reheat almost as well as fresh, so cook a full box.

Air fryer: 400°F, about 10 minutes, flip halfway

Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Pancake Puffs

Trader Joe's pancake puffs air fried until golden and dusted with powdered sugar

These Danish-style pancake balls come out fluffy in the middle with lightly golden edges, and there’s no preheating or flipping. Five minutes, then powdered sugar and syrup. The kids think they’re a treat; you know it took no effort.

Tips for Cooking Trader Joe’s Frozen Food in the Air Fryer

  • Don’t thaw. Everything on this list goes in frozen. Thawing makes breaded items soggy and dumplings stick.
  • Single layer, always. Crowding is the number one reason frozen food comes out cold in the middle. Cook in batches if you have to.
  • Convert the box directions. Drop the oven temperature by about 25°F and start checking at half the listed time.
  • Preheat for anything you want crispy. Hash browns, fries, gnocchi and potstickers all benefit from a hot basket. Pancake puffs and mini cheeseburgers don’t need it.
  • A little oil spray goes a long way. Products with no oil in the breading (potstickers, cauliflower pancakes) brown better with a quick mist.
  • Shake or flip halfway. Basket-style air fryers cook from the top, so flipping gives you even browning.
  • Sauce after, not before. Wet sauces on frozen food cause steaming. Cook first, toss in sauce at the end.

Trader Joe’s Air Fryer FAQs

What temperature do I use for Trader Joe’s frozen food in the air fryer? Most items cook at 375°F to 400°F. Breaded and potato items do best at 400°F; delicate items like pancake puffs and bread cheese do better at 350°F.

Can I cook Trader Joe’s frozen meals with sauce packets in the air fryer? Yes. Cook the protein in the basket and thaw the sauce pouch in hot water, then toss together after cooking. Never air fry the sauce pouch.

Do I need to use oil? Usually not. Most Trader Joe’s frozen items already contain some oil. A light spray helps unbreaded items like potstickers and cauliflower pancakes brown.

Does this work in an air fryer oven or Ninja Foodi? Yes. Oven-style air fryers may need a minute or two longer since the food sits farther from the heating element. Use the middle rack.

Can I reheat leftovers in the air fryer? Yes, and it’s the best method. Reheat at 350°F for 3 to 5 minutes. The microwave makes everything soft.

What are the best Trader Joe’s products for the air fryer? Orange chicken, hash brown patties, cauliflower gnocchi and potstickers are the four I’d start with. They all cook dramatically better in the air fryer than in the oven or on the stove.
