Step Two: Add the frozen Trader Joe’s dumplings to the simmering broth. Cook according to package instructions, usually 7–10 minutes, until heated through and tender.

Step Three: During the last 3–4 minutes of cooking, stir in sliced carrots and chopped green onions. If using spinach, add it now and cook until wilted.

Trader Joe’s Famous Wonton Soup Recipe Tips
- Use fresh or frozen dumplings – Both work well, but frozen dumplings are convenient and cook evenly in the simmering broth.
- Simmer, don’t boil – Keep the broth at a gentle simmer to prevent dumplings from breaking apart.
- Add veggies at the end – Carrots, green onions, and spinach cook quickly, so add them in the last few minutes to keep them crisp and vibrant.
- Customize the broth – Adjust soy sauce, sesame oil, or add a splash of rice vinegar for extra depth and flavor.
- Garnish for extra flavor – Sprinkle with sesame seeds, chili flakes, or squeeze fresh lime juice just before serving for a bright, flavorful finish.
Storing, Freezing & Reheating Instructions
- Storing: Store leftover soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat until warmed through.
- Freezing: For longer storage, freeze the soup (without added greens) in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
- Reheating: Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of broth if needed. Add fresh greens just before serving to keep them vibrant and tender.
